It's a fact that lower income people eat low quality food. A jar of store brand jam is $2 and mostly corn syrup. A jar of premium preserves is $6 and has no corn syrup. In a benevolent society this wouldn't be the case. Sadly, I see that here too often. Sodas, and other sugar laden products. HFC syrup is deadly. Here in Linden, for some reason fresh produce is very expensive. There is a food truck twice a month that has mostly vegetables and a lot of hobby farmers either give food away or charge very little for it. Other than meat, there is little in the stores that doesn't contain HFCS. I don't blame the store. Most people here can't afford better. People are living out of the Dollar Stores. The local store is selling a fraction of the meat they were selling in 2019, so the prices have finally gone up. Who's running this country anyway? The there's no excuse for having no food availability in this day.

Sugar does not cause cancer. It enables the cancer cells to easily reproduce using fermentation for energy. So, the least fermentable carbs are called for and the most should be avoided. Refined sugar is the most fermentable of all which is why it is added to mash for distillation. I think it all comes down to “All things in moderation”, the trick is figuring it out in the younger years. I am going to try and educate my kids/grandkids. This!

Shaved ribeye cheesesteak. Arizona style, we use real cheese, not cheese whiz. Make another, driving to the airport now

Haven't eaten dinner yet. Was planning on trying a new recipe - Shrimp & Andouille Cajun Rice. But worked around the house all day and didn't have the time to make it. So, it'll probably be an egg and cheese sandwich.

Some of these patients, Kidney disease is only one component of their file, diabetes is rampant. All the bad stuff, from the big conglomerates pumping out crap food.

Tonight's Supper was Mince Stew. Started out as Mince and Onions, the venerable English dish. By the time I finished adding vegetables, lentils, rice it became a stew. Still very good.

For dinner, I had a sub from Jersey Giant Subs. It was heaven as I’ve been on a no biting into stuff diet limitation for the last four weeks due to a temporary crown on one of my front four teeth. The permanent crown was installed this morning. First sandwich in a month.

I had the #8 which is also called the Jersey Giant. Ham, cappacola, and salami.

Jersey Mike's is all over down here. Decent subs, unless there's a Firehouse Subs place within 20 miles. About 48 years ago a real Jersey sub guy opened a food truck in Houston. It was submarine Nirvana. I have never had a sub that good before or since. Not good enough to make me leave Texas though.
