Lunch as what I can only call "Slumgolian". A mix of beef mince and onion with vegies, lamb and lentils and mac and cheese. It is very good and I have plenty more. Need to use up all the foods I have prepared! Since I am not doing much I seem to be in the kitchen more often.
Mince and onion is the English name for hamburger and onions. How they hate using German words after two wars!

Tonight's dinner will be something that our daughter made for us, "stuffed cabbage" soup. That sounds interesting. Please post a photo if you can. I am curious to see it. Might have to make it here. It's made with shredded cabbage, browned ground beef, rice, and seasonings.

2 of my favorite sandwiches right together. No place with a decent Reuben in 10 counties. Rabbit Patch in Atlanta has a decent Montecristo.

2nd quarter of the monte Cristo sandwich. Yesterday the wife did the soup and salad none of the soups appealed to her so I traded a quarter of the sandwich for the split Pea soup which was really good. We each ate the other two quarters tonite.
Starting to do that more often when on my own dime...I order the big meal, she goes the appetizer/salad route, and we split it...that approach saves a few shekels, and neither goes hungry.

Menards delivered my new grill this morning. Breaking it in this evening with brats from Kern's Sausages in Frankenmuth, MI. Frankenmuth is a small town founded by German immigrants which has a Bavarian theme to attract tourists. It is located about 15 to 20 minutes from where I grew up. Kern's was one of two family owned meat markets of my youth. The other one was in Bay City and owned by a Polish family. kernssausage.com/The new grill is nothing special. Just a basic 3 burner CharBroil propane grill. I used to go in for buying big fancy grills until I realized how much I was spending to replace worn out rusted parts. I had own with porcelain coated grates. Three of them and they cost $75 each to replace 10 years ago. Cheaper just to get a basic grill that does the job.

On a choir tour in h.s., we stopped there for a couple hours. All I remember, foodwise, is there was lots and lots of fudge.

Bavarian Inn and Zehnder’s restaurants are famous for their family style chicken dinners. Then there is Bronner’s, the world’s largest Christmas decorations megastore.
