We had a new Methodist Minister in Central La, wife was Methodist, he was previously a biologist at Rockerfellow Wildlife Preserve in Pecan Island, came to my home we clicked, drank a few beers together, told me it was hard to raise money for the youth fellowship they were trying to take off. Exxon had a habit of helping local causes, slipped my big boss how good it would look if they funded this. They built a fellowship hall with games and everything in Uncle Exxons name. My kids went there it made me happy. This is what it should be.

When I lived down the street from Friends University in Wichita (Quaker), the Presbyterian church always kept the gymnasium open well into the evening for us kids. The University had a neat museum, and they waived the 50 cent? Fee for us kids.
I am guessing it could not be done today… financial liability, vandalism, etc… It is a shame that kids now cannot enjoy what we took for granted.

I always liked Studebakers. My uncle had a Lark sedan but I never rode in it. Had an intense desire for an Avanti for a long time. I had a neighbor with a Golden Hawk and he let me drive it around the block. It had the 289 and felt good. It set a little bit low compared to the average car. I guess it's like an old SL450 in feel.

Woke up to a huge racket this morning. A guy on a big tracked Kubota with a Fecon mulcher was clearing the woods beside our house. I had never seen anything so destructive. It was taking down 10 inch, 50 foot tall trees and turning them into sawdust in a couple of minutes. He left a 20 foot strip beside the fence. They also put the barbed wire back so the cows can't just step over it anymore.

A girl friend of mine (about 50 yrs ago) had a Hudson Pickup truck, it was like a Cadillac on the inside, and NO she wouldn't let me drive it.......... EVER! LOL! That's okay, I liked being Chauffeur around, but I didn't tell her that. The photos below isn't hers, I found them on the interweb. Her's was two tone Coffee and Cream, real sweet ride to say the least.

Saturday night baseball on TV. Watched the Guardians pitcher Carrasco lose control of the game in the fourth against the Phillies. Cleveland just changed pitchers with the Phillies leading 4-0. I'm going to switch over in ten minutes to watch one of Silver Pete's favorite teams, the Yankees, play the evil Red Sox.

More rain. I believe this makes it 6 days in a row with nontrivial quantities of rain. It's heating back up, though. 87 today, with tropical humidity.

Modern day snake oil salespeople…Cindy Crawford… Tired of the extended commercials… she teamed up with some doctor in Europe that has special cantaloupes only in a region he farms, your skin will look like Cindy’s!
And she has hair products that will improve your mane.
Low introductory prices, you just give them your credit card number and agree to autoship…. Then you need to see a cardiologist when the statement comes in.
And the commercial(Colonial Penn) selling burial insurance for $9 a month, 20K payout, any age, no medical tests!
Google them up for the scam of the century…
At least in the old west, the elixir probably gave you a good buzz on a one time purchase.

Harvested some parsley and rosemary, which will be used in today's dinner. Picked a few more cucumbers and a bunch of pole beans. There are eggplants and more zucchini about ready. The basil will need to be cut again this week. C'mon tomatoes, start ripening already!

It's a series of garden boxes and large pots. Less than 200 sq. Ft. Using every square foot available. Might build another box for next season, if I can find room. Or maybe I'll try to rent a box at the community garden. It looks like they're all being used this year. Probably would need to get on a wait list. No pics currently. I'll try to snap a few for you.

Our tomatoes and cucumbers were done by the middle of June. I think I will put up a shade cover to cut the heat and see if I can get more out of the garden. Shade cloth that cuts out 30% of the sunlight.

Made another batch of fermented pickles. Left the cucumbers whole. The last batch, I quartered the cucumbers and they turned out too soft. Decent flavor, but the texture was not good at all.

I have to well raised planters and will be adding a third in a different spot with more direct sunlight. I have the them two pallet high and might go to three for the next planter. Or some other elevation structure. I like them high so I do not have to bend down much. I can sit on a stool and examine them.

The heat is back with a vengeance. 95 today feeling like 106. Ran out to the drugstore and the truck sounds like it's got a couple of missing cylinders. I put a bottle of Merrymans in the tank and took the long way home. It was running fine when I parked it. I need to get up before the heat tomorrow and check for codes.

I prefer Marvel Mystery Oil over Berryman's B12 in the fuel tank but have used both as preventive maintenance vs injectors and fuel pumps. They seem to work better than the other 20 brands of fuel additives. Gasoline used to be premium, but they have changed the formula's over the years. After the hurricane the Firman gen set ran av-gas and purred like a kitten for three days. 87 degrees with 83% humidity in the swamp today

Picked a couple more zucchini and a few Japanese eggplants. The eggplants will become a dinner ingredient tonight. Hoping to pawn off the zucchini on the kids. I think we have 5 of them in the fridge now. Still no ripening tomatoes.

Taking it to the stealer tomorrow. About to drive it 35 miles to see if it will clear itself.

It's 77° here with a cloudy sky and rain is on the way. It's raining hard in Cleveland and the Tigers vs Guardians game may get delayed. This system stretches from out Pete's way in Detroit to here in NE Ohio and may hang on for the rest of the week. I'm going to try to get in another pipe later on.

A really dumb commercial.
In a perfect world, any young girl or lady should be able to plug their ears in and stroll down the street without fear of abduction or rape… unfortunately that is not the real world.
Often I see a woman loading groceries in the car while her purse sits in the cart perch, I approach them and tell them why the purse is the first thing to go into the car and explain why.
More often than not, they appreciate the advice… twice women acted like I was out of line for the advice, some people are determined to reject such advice…. That is on them, I did my duty.
