We had rain from 9 pm to 3 am… the local news channels are overly animated every time we have rain or snow….
It is only worse when NYC gets snow and the national bureau’s report on it… we are all suppose to freak out.😂

Aah, freak out! Le freak, c'est chic. No rain in the swamp yet. My sister is on high ground out in Modesto. Two doctor appointments down, taxes done, respectful hair cut and close shave making me look like a human again. Celebrate good times!

I almost bought a Kaufman and Broad house in Modesto in the 90’s, we really liked the house, had a creek nearby. I decided that the commute to Fremont was just too much. A few years later, all of that neighborhood was under water.

Dense fog this morning. I would not have gone to Ogallala if I had known how bad. 50Y visibility over and back. While crossing the dam I couldn’t see the lake at all. And would you believe people driving white and grey vehicles had their lights off?

My sister has three kids in Modesto all in their sixty's at this point and all out of the flood zones so no worries there. Modesto is getting buckets of rain right now. Funny the number of super hard core commuters out that way driving 100 miles each way to work. When I still worked used to do 100 miles a day but at least it was all toll roads even that takes a big chunk of time out of your day.

All of that was a flood plain before the white man put in all the reservoirs. Now the state in their infinite wisdom is blowing up 5 dams, and ridding itself of hydroelectric power, and common sense water management. The money that all of the citizens put in the bank to maintain it all is (still to my knowledge) being collected. Not sure if that will affect the Modesto area, but it will for some.

And would you believe people driving white and grey vehicles had their lights off? Gus, did you stop off and see Clara? ( Lonesome Dove/Ogallala reference) No shortage of common sense by some motorists… For years I drove the San Joaquin valley (Tule fog), typically 80,000 gross. There were times that I could not see the marker lights on the 48’ trailer. I figured out that 45 mph was about as sweet a spot that I could travel at. Any faster, you face crashing, any slower you chance getting rear ended. Saw a lot of fatalities. The most grisly was two Mexicans in a cabover roared past me, slammed into a flatbed loaded with bagged cement. It put the steering axle behind the drive axles and the two guys were launched through the windshield. Bad fog is no joke!

Clara don’t live here no more. Should have gotten there sooner, she was a looker with a big ranch.

Snowing this morning. Too warm. 0800 and the temp is 32 degrees (F). Likely turn to rain and then the roads freeze to ice in the evening. Heading to town for MD consultation. It will be an interesting drive home! Yikes. Stay safe out there, John. Hope you get good news.

Five inches of snow this morning. More coming down. The most we have had in a while. I hope it continues and remains cold enough not to melt and run off.

Snowing heavy in Denver right now. My day is going to be reading, coffee, a pipe , ammo reloading, then a little bourbon and a pipe. Maybe a walk late today with my snowshoes if it accumulates enough.

It's 42° here with a clear, sunny sky...a welcome break from the constant cloudiness.

30 and cloudy here. Supposed to warm up tomorrow. I read that 24 days in January had no sunshine. I hope this month is sunnier.

We're around 70 again. They were predicting mid-60s. It is overcast, but I'll take it.

30 just now. Light snow falling. We have about 8 inches but melting some. I measure snow on the steps to the roof as they are colder than the ground.

So, the other day, true story, while being prepped for both a colonoscopy and and an endoscopy, the RN asked me if I was missing any teeth. I told her "several. " "Where are they?", she asked (truly). I responded, "If I knew where they were they would not be missing." That got a laugh.
OK, Ok, I am not ready for the big rooms. Strictly a lounge act.

Holds true for shooting, too.

My buddies and me go shooting annually up on the mountains, and the spirits come after the shooting. I have yet to start reloading, but one person I hold in high regard says that when he goes in the shop to do so, nothing that can distract is allowed. He has a building that is mind blowing in the contents contained… just for Thompson mg, he has 4…. And it goes up from there… 2 BAR’s… etc.

Just finished trimming the Mexican bird of Paradise plants, Yellow Bells, grass, etc…I need to hire a landscaper until I retire then do it myself to keep me busy.
Got a notice from the HOA about weeds that I need to take care of they didn’t go crazy, but they definitely needed Roundup.
