Just back from Albuquerque and seeing the Surgeon. She is a most impressive woman. Quite striking to look at. More importantly, she has that take charge, no B.S., get out of my way, NOW! Thing happening. She wants to operate this Friday. So, that is the way it shall be. I hear and obey the word. She had a complete plan of what to do all set. Yep, the tumor is cancerous. Tests have indicated it has not spread. Tumor is small and appears to have not created much damage. More will be learned when they open me up. Her initial thought is a few pencil sized holes in the ab with a three inch incision from which the Transverse and Ascending Colon can be removed for sectioning. I will likely lose my Ascending Colon as the intestines will be connected directly to the Transverse Colon. She will know more when she has it all out on the operating table and can examine it. More biopsies will be done. It does not appear the cancer has spread but a close inspection will reveal more. Blood tests and CT Scans are all negative for cancer. No smoking for a long time, if ever, and alcohol intake will be eliminated for a while then reduced significantly, drat!. She estimates about four days in hospital. When I have manageable pain and can pass poops I can go home. I should be up by Sunday. It is not likely I will need a bag unless there are complications. I can resume a modified solid food diet. There will likely be a period of diarrhea for a while until my body adjusts to the new plumbing regime. So, she wants to act ASAP for obvious reasons. Hoping it goes as indicated at this early stage but you all know what happens when the Surgeon gets in there. I feel very good about her and liked her right off. Abdominal surgery was last performed on me in 1978. So, I know what to expect and can deal with it. Tomorrow begins lighter foods and Thursday is prep day, same as for the Colonoscopy two weeks ago. About as good an outcome as can be expected. Having a doctor you're comfortable with can make a big difference. Glad you have that. And glad that, for once, one of your doctors is getting the lead out. Don't know what the surgery was in 1978, but I'd hope this will be a better experience than what they were doing then. Sending best thoughts your way, John. Hoping for no surprises once they get a firsthand look. From what was discussed today, much the same with the incision in the abdomen. This time there will be some robotic assist but still requires removal and reinstallation. The incision is the painful part but, not too terrible after the first full day or two. Morphine helps but last time I called quits on that after one full day of recovery. Hoping for the same here.

Left the house early meeting up with a group of friends for breakfast ahead of going to our weekly pastor group meeting. And after the conference was concluded went to my home church to work out a problem with the sound system. Sunday morning the pastor was hearing a radio station coming through the audio monitors in the pulpit. Spent several hours trying to identify which microphone was the problem. What I did find was that the sound board is miss labeled! The best thing I was able to do was to isolate the radio signal. Most of the system was functional but, the speakers for the congregation do not produce any sound.
So, I’ll be getting a copy of the sound board diagram and try to straighten it out soon...

Sounds like a party. When I was a teenager, our church had a problem for several months with the sound system intermittently picking up CB chatter from passing trucks and blasting it out to the congregation. As you might imagine, some of it was a bit, uh, colorful.

No rehab planned or mentioned by MD. When released from hospital I will return home and be on my own. I have a neighbor who can help with feeding the livestock and firewood, hopefully.

Not the word about the C but the rest is good news. If a surgeon is good they tend to be that way. “Hoka hey!” Get out of my way! By March you’re gonna be kicking arse and taking names.

They are getting pretty good with the slice and dice surgery these days so no surprise they will kick you to the curb before the bleeding stops. Take care and heal up fast John best wishes for the best outcome.

My Gravely mower was delivered today. Now I just need some grass. Well, pardner! I needed to mow today but ran out of steam after laying around for a couple of months. Beautiful day today in NE Texas. I went to Tractor Supply and got asked where I'd been. It's good to be missed. I picked up 80 pounds of garden soil and 80 pounds of birdseed. Bushed.

Here is a photo of my Surgeon. Dang, almost as hot as my dermatologist! Most beautiful woman I ever saw was a doctor in Methodist Hospital. She was looking at the babies same time I was looking at them with the dad. He was mart to the second most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

Got a very light sunburn yesterday so I have more of a tingle than an itch today. 😁

Well, she had me driving an extra 70 miles 3 times a week to spend 1 minute in the UV booth. I'm sure that was a hundred bucks a session too. It's not a bad burn, just a little red. It's fine. In 3 days I will just be a shade darker. I'm already looking tan and the skin is clear in the parts that get the most sun. Brown fat looks much better than white fat. 😂 I'm really enjoying the sun and I'm being careful. I just went 5 minutes over the timer because I got distracted.

There’s a spot on my dirt road, as it passes over the creek culvert, that becomes a morass in wet weather or when the snow melts. The county, bless ‘em, spent all day yesterday hauling in hopper truck loads of dirt to try to fill it. Six or seven of therm, and leveled and packed them with a maintainer. I would have preferred gravel, but I guess it’s scarcer than dirt. We’ll have to see how the dirt works long-term but right now it’s much, much better. Nice effort by the county since I’m the only one on this road.

Here we can't get any kind of topsoil, but I can have 50 different kinds of rock, crushed concrete and gravel delivered this afternoon.

Rather than the dirt, if I cant get gravel, I would rather have sand — of which there is a lot on the Sandhills. Sand is excellent when it gets wet.

Sitting in the waiting room for my annual doctor appointment. Doc had a new sleep med for me to try. It's called Quviviq, because what else would you call it? It's so new, my insurance may not pay for it, but at this point, I kinda don't care.
