Falconer friends came by today and brought a new young bird. Found no rabbits, though. That's a beautiful bird! You have some interesting friends. What Ron said.

When I lived in California a budding falconer was training his bird out at the former Ford factory in Milpitas. He had some type of tether-line on the bird and it got tangled upon a high voltage tower. He climbed up and somehow touched the high voltage lines, he was cooked.
Seems like a cool hobby though if you avoid something like that.

That’s a sad story. I only have one thin line coming into the place. This fellow does not leave a long jess on his bird when he releases it. I was concerned about its spending so much time in the trees but they seemed no problem for Him, or her. Very smart critter.

When we went to the San Francisco Zoo, eating outside the seagulls were ridiculously aggressive they would take the food from children's hands.
Until the handlers brought out the falcons… that nonsense ceased muy pronto… lucky to see a seagull after that.😂

Until the handlers brought out the falcons… that nonsense ceased muy pronto… lucky to see a seagull after that.😂 You should see the last couple innings of a SF Giants home game. It doesn't matter what time of day the game is or what the pace of play has been, the gulls always start showing up in the 7th or 8th inning, and by the time the final out is recorded it looks like a scene from Hitchcock. Those SF gulls are no dummies.

One time when I was delivering children's hospital in SF, a bag of rolled oats ripped…. It was a huge bag, equal in volume to the 100# sacks of days gone by. It was going to create a huge mess in my semi-trailer, so I dumped it on the ground. The seagulls and pigeons were gorging themselves on it to the degree that the expansion of the oats in their bellies was something else.
An old guy that worked there said, once they start flying it ain’t gonna be manna from heaven.

So far I don't like 2024. Prednisone dreams started last night and I woke up exhausted. Another cold and rainy day, complete opposite of the forecast. Taking the dog and going back to bed.

Thanks guys. I don't know, but I think I'll probably have to take another round of the prednisone. I don't want to take the methotrexate at all. I may have to go to an MD if I can find one instead of the MPAS PA-C.

My weather station (10yrs old) got cranky. Bought a new one and got the outside sender unit mounted today. Quite a few new features. But what they DIDN’T tell me was that for some settings (like barometer) you need to set against a “known standard.” Big PIA. But I’ll hack away at it and finally get it. Temp and wind direction and speed working great. Has no feature for changing the weather, just recording it. Bummer.

Since classes haven’t restarted after break yet, my wife and I took the short drive to visit our alma mater (Michigan State) and East Lansing today. We had a great Indian lunch because there is a serious lack of Indian restaurants near our home. Took a stroll around MSU Museum. Then a visit to our favorite Asian supermarket. I first shopped there 40 years ago when it was just a small mom and pop grocery store in a strip mall. Today, they're larger than many American supermarkets. Lots of goodies followed us home from there.

Plenty of “Indian” restaurants here, but not a lot of Curry used in the dishes, quite a foreign notion! 😉
I like both versions, there used to be a restaurant in Monterey California, India Clay Oven…. Every-time I went there my money was no good, I really gained an appreciation for fine Eastern Indian Cuisine.

Tucson is fortunate to have a couple of Indian restaurants that do Curry very well. the two we really like are Indian Twist (on camp lowell) and India oven (off campbell) both have a scale of heat being 1-5 and I find the 3 is pretty good.

Unfortunately, none of them has had an urge to open a restaurant. 😢 Probably a good thing though as I would just sit there all day eating fry bread. 😀 I’m limited to food trucks at local pow-wows.

I hear ya bro. We need to enter a twelve-step program, because the bread lends itself well to many ingredients...roast lamb, pork, beef, shrimp, calamari...we can work on the other 3 steps.

When I had my shoulder surgery, the gal that shaved my shoulder was a 12 on a scale of 1-10. I woke to the same beautiful angel hovering over me as I came out of anesthesia, and my comments were on par with one that had entered paradise. Unfortunately, my wife was just to my left, out of peripheral view.
The drugs made me do it, that's my story and I am sticking to it.

I apparently gave the girls in my oral surgeon's office quite some entertainment as I was coming out of the anesthesia. I had 3 of them walking me back out to the recovery area, giggling like little girls. God only knows what I'd said.
