A friend came over today to till my garden patch. I had put manure and lime out several months ago and finally got it turned in today. I worry about having someone help out because the area that I have had the garden in the past seems to have grown a bumper crop of broken bricks. The house was built in the 1970's and is a brick house, so it stands to reason that the place I choose was the debris heap from then.

Like Silver, I've had the cruds since New Year's weekend. Caught it from one of my relatives, probably. Hope you get a clean report on your growths, Ron. Hope they can do something about those hives while you're there.

But I do not think there is any evidence that America was involved in gain of function research, and either accidentally or purposely unleashed it on society. “ One of the first recorded cases was on March 11, 1918, at Fort Riley in Kansas. Overcrowding and unsanitary conditions created a fertile breeding ground for the virus.” That is somewhat excusable, they just did not know about a lot of this stuff. 100 years later this is a different case. Charlie, I know that you have problems with certain nationalities and groups. You should keep in mind the rules of this forum. "Absolutely positively NO politics or religion. This includes imagery, pictures, statements, etc. Sorry, but there are hundreds of forums on the web that offer this type of platform." You could not be more wrong about “what you know”, I have friends that are Chinese, and people in many nationalities and groups. If you are inferring that I am a racist, or anything of that sort with your inference, pure hogwash. Yes… I am upset that a million of my countrymen died needlesssly. That is all I have to say on the matter, if you want to beat a dead horse carry on.

Sorry, but I can’t find politics or race in Charlie’s post.

The politics is in turning a comment about his health - which is appropriate - into a comment about China, its connections to COVID, its possible motivations regarding COVID, etc., all of which is political and inappropriate.
The part we care about is that Charlie isn't feeling well, and we'd like him to get better. The rest we can do without.

Our house was built in 53, but I think the brick work has been modified. I have enough bricks to build a wall, but they're nothing compared to the iron ore rocks that keep coming up. I understand how they build the stone walls in Ireland.

In parts of Ireland they have built the fence-walls as high as they can go so they just pile the rocks up into high cairns so the grass can have room.

Despite the somewhat thin “corrections & admonitions” I stand by what I said about Charlie’s post. And agree about him needing to get well.

I'd like to go out and have another bowl of something, but it's just a little too dang cold. I can bundle up enough, but that doesn't keep my nose from running.

My nose has been running for 4 days - indoors. I've got a box of tissues sitting next to me at all times. I just have to make sure to remember which hand is holding my pipe or tamper and which one's holding the Kleenex! I hope we both feel better soon!

Very sore throat and low-grade fever. Lost my voice for a couple days.

Sorry for you guys with the runny noses and sore throats. I'm on so much predictable and antihistamines that nothing is running or moving on me except my skin. 😒

If I forget to take zyrtec, I am almost guaranteed to end up with hives from allergies…. Wish it was seasonal, but it is year round.

Looks like it's going to be a dreary January down here. We've had one sunny day this week, and 9 of the next 10 days are forecast to be overcast and/or rainy.

Observed my last day off work for the year end shutdown by going out for brunch at our favorite breakfast place. Back to the salt mine on Monday.

We've had good, cool weather all week, but last night and all day today it's rain, wind and cold. Supposed to be a nice weekend though. I just wish I could get out into it.
