Woke up early for the AC repairmen. Turns out that the horrible crash from the air handler was ice falling into the blower. Turns out the coil is leaking and we need a complete new unit. So, that took the wind out of my sails. Took the family to vote today. You can't vote as an independent, you have to choose a party. Finally got the boxes cleaned out of my closet and surprise! None of it was my clothes. The way it should be...carpetbagging is pretty reprehensible, but scumbags are scumbags. Sucks about the A/C... here in Arizona, it is far more preferable for your daughter to marry an A/C technician than a DEI major with a college degree...the payout is incalculable! As my wife is a Township Clerk and chairs the legislative committee of the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks, I feel the need to point out to youse that you are ignoring a simple fundamental fact: in a primary election, by law, you can only vote within one party to select among the potential candidates for the general election for that party. In the rare case of non-partisan items, such as a proposal, during the same election, those items will appear on both party's ballots. There’s nothing going on here. Go be grumpy old men about something else.

And you didn't tell me a thing I didn't know. 🙄 I suppose I sounded like it was my first election, but I have been voting since 1968 and my mom worked the polls from the time I was 5 or so and I went to the meetings and to work with her for years. I passed out the coffee and donuts to the poll workers. I just hate to be affiliated with either party. Can you understand?

I just realized that I have tickets to see Justin Johnson on the 9th, and we're leaving for Branson on the 9th, with a reservation in Fort Smith on the way. Non refundable. I'm thinking about sleeping most of Saturday, going to the concert, then driving the 4 hours to the motel. I need a keeper.

its been almost 3 months since my mom passed and the grief still hits me in waves mostly at nigt when I am trying to sleep as im alone with my thoughts . I woke up crying tonight. I know this normal and im working on not stuffing my feelings like i used to. Luckly my cat Molly noticed i was sad and come up and sat by side and made me feel a bit better. Going to call my aunt in the morning to see if i can come visit her sometime over the weekend since my dad is out of town. just needed to let it out a bit, I really miss my mom and it hurts that shes not there anymore.

I was in the same boat. The whole first year was rough and I had my wife and son. My mom died in 97 and for the next 20+ years I was always thinking I needed to call her about something, or pick her up for a family event. If you don't find it getting at least a little bit better in another month, you probably need to check in some kind of grief counseling. Good luck.

I haven't lost a parent, yet, but that does sound normal. Sucks, but normal. When my grandpa died, I had dreams about him for a couple of months, and he was "just" my grandpa. It's not like I saw him every day or he was a primary caregiver or anything. I just liked him and people said I reminded them of him, which I took as a compliment because everybody respected my grandpa. Go see your aunt if you can. And hang in there, Mike. You got this.

I have noticed some people that weren't that close to their mom's don't seem to have such issues. I prefer to think about her. I probably only think about her once a week now.

Back then the entire South was Democrat. The powers that be hate independent thinkers, both sides. An old politician once said that "there ain't a dimes difference between any of them". Not a great statesman, but not stupid either. Alexander Hamilton once called political parties “the most fatal disease” of popular governments." I'll leave this here. I didn't mean to upset anyone.

I lost my mom at 18, the sense of loss never really goes away… that maternal bond is quite profound when you consider that often on the battlefield, a soldier losing their life cries out for their mother.

Yes Charlie, took my boys to see Saving Private Ryan, when the squad charged the machine gun emplacement and one of the guys got hit and started screaming for his Mither, I lost it, I jumped up and went in the lobby and cried my heart out, my boys were horrified, told them to finish the movie and I would stay in the lobby. Took me a year to finally see the end of that Movie.

Go be grumpy old men about something else. That can vary by state… In some states a person can change their political affiliation and vote for the weaker horse in a party they would not vote in a general election, revert back to the party that they would vote in on a general election. I have seen this happen in both of the major parties depending on who is running, I just think that it is dishonest…. Kind of like having shill bidders helping you out on an online auction. I admit to being a grumpy old fart though!😉

The ladies at the poll were lovely. I didn't give them any grief.
