Enjoying a fun/tiring smoke filled week at PCA in Las Vegas! Managed to find a couple of nice chairs to set-a-spell. George Burns called, he wants his chairs, (and ladies) back!

The oven was manually cleaned, just a tiny bit of baked on residue so I tried the self clean feature. Electrical fire started in the back panel, flames shooting out of the exhaust vents. Glad I have: A fire extinguisher A hand truck While doing research on appliances, a buddy pointed me to a YouTube appliance repairman that rates the different appliances by brands and such. He recommends never using the self clean feature because the extreme heat can stress out components resulting in costly repairs… minimize spills and clean the old fashioned way. The first time I decide to use the self clean feature and this happens… But 4 months left on the 4 year warranty thanks to Spencer's Appliance $99 option at purchase. What a mess to clean up the fire ext powder.

A fire extinguisher is on that list of things it's good to have and not need rather than need and not have.

Also a big reason why we have firearms nearby! When I hauled Hazmat from farm supply stores and big box home improvement stores, there were always fully charged and functional F/E'ers that were put in the hazmat bins to go to Hazmat Hell. They were a pain to process, as they went to an alternate landfill that accepted them 4 states away, so a good part of them were repurposed. Regardless, I have always had at least one on hand, they are cheap insurance.

What a mess to clean up the fire ext powder. I have used the self-clean feature several times with no ill results, but I only every 2 to 4 years. That Profile range is USA made too. You should check out an induction range while you are shopping. I try to only use CO2 extinguishers in the house, after seeing one used in server room. Ruined 3 servers on the other side of the room. I then showed the guy the CO2 extinguishers inside and outside the server room. He didn't keep his job.

Good advice. When these lose their charge, I will shop for one.
Edit: Yipes! Over $200 on Amazon, is there a cheaper route?

Spent the day cooking. Made a Limoncello Mousse. Haven't tried it yet, but it doesn't look like it thickened up properly. Also, made a stuffed pork loin. Turned out great.

Much better than the Halon system we had at Bank of America's computer room. When release, about twenty seconds to evacuate. Since the doors were mantraps, better hope the guard releases them!

“ Since the doors were mantraps, better hope the guard releases them! ” Different situation… I used to deliver a restaurant in Carmel, each trip I had to be buzzed out by the hostess who manned the camera and buzzer at the front desk upstairs. They did not trust the prep cooks in the basement not to sneak stuff out. So when she left her station it was a waiting game.
I called the Carmel FD and anonymously told them that the kitchen staff had no alternate emergency exit should a stairwell fire break out.
Shazam! Next time I went there, I could come and go as I pleased.

Was this something you learned in New Orleans? No, I think I got this recipe off Pinterest. Made it once before, about a year ago. Turned out great then too. Cut the loin like I'm unrolling a cinnamon bun, then beat it with a 'meat hammer' to tenderize it and get a uniform thickness. The 'stuffing' is shredded Mozella, shredded medium sharp cheddar, cream cheese, spinach and crispy fried bacon crumbled. It's coated with a pork rub, then baked.

The day spent doing chores and wanting a wee bit of chocolate, but, alas, none to be had...So what do you do when you have an unfulfilled desire? Bake a chocolate cake!! That's what you do! Now to wait long enough to let it cool to put chocolate frosting on it before devouring it! What?! You know how to bake? ?!!!!!! Jealous…….

My attack chihuahua is still down for the count. She is laying in the middle of the floor zonked out after a rough day of dry heaves yesterday. She will be fine just a bad stomach. As for me starting out slow after sleeping in the office chair again but at least it was a full 7 hours. Have a ducky day folks.

So far, as hoped, that “killer blizzard” has been a dud. We got a scant half inch overnight here, but the interstate is closed. It still has today, according to the forecast, to dump some more on us but I think we’re out of the woods. Seems most of it went north and east of us. Good riddance.

Seven inches here and more coming down. Biggest snow of the winter '23-'24. Of course, now it is Spring.

Had the long drive to the doctor this morning early in the rain. A bit better coming home. So much new greens it hurts your eyes. A bunch of dogwoods too. AC guys came to see why the new coil isn't cooling. First it was overfilled. Second, the compressor is going out. Further adventures scheduled for the morrow.

Chilly, wet, and blustery here today. Think we're expecting about 1.5" of rain by the time it ends sometime tonight.

The wife broke my dog. Well maybe not she cleaned out her nose so she could breath better. But Rocksie has not eaten today despite my attempts cheese, potted meat, Dukes beef stick, pork chop at dinner and even turned down cookie time all these are some of her favorite things. If she doesn't eat tomorrow after her dog beauty parlor visit might have to turn up the worried meter a notch.
