Solid overcast in southern Michigan last night. No aurora viewing here. 😢 I have friends in Columbus, OH who have posted pictures from last night. It has been solid overcast here all day. However, the sun is starting to peek out and it's supposed to clear up this evening. Fingers crossed. I was going to take the fancy camera out Hwy 8 tonight for some long exposures, but clouds are building. Oh well. I got to see the full eclipse for a few seconds.

After a shower to rinse the grass, dust, and pollen off, I'm sitting on the patio admiring my work (including yanking out all that ivy the other day), listening to the birds, and watching the world go by.

Just saw my first dragonfly of the season. A very welcome sight, mosquito hawks that they are.

URB, wife bought what she says is a mosquito plant, and damn if it didn’t work, check it out. Now I need something for them f*#king flies! I've done a bit of looking and it seems there are several different plants that get called "mosquito plant". Which one is she using? Is it pennyroyal? Maybe citronella?

Brad smokes so many cigars, just the smoke rolling off him repels mosquitos. But… if the wife thinks it is the-plants she bought it is a win-win.

Ira said it was about 40 ft from the stand, which was a small hut with large fold out wood shutter, recliner, about 3:30 am he took a nap, early morning no hog, found it about 40 more feet coyotes had drug it and were feasting, that night he shot a 300 lb one but they couldn’t find it. He said it was hot as hell, glad to be in his Jeep with AC heading home.

I'm having one awful time trying to get the Nova launcher to work on my Lenovo Yoga tablet. I've searched for a user manual, but only come up with descriptions of it's features. If anyone has experience with this, I'd appreciate some help. Thanks!

I gave up and uninstalled the app. Just couldn't get the settings to work. Sorry, I've never even heard of it. An app launcher does just that...it launches apps for use. Many have enhanced controls over icons, colors, etc. Nova is one of the most popular but I could never figure out how to set it up.

I don't ever use a tablet or any Android devices, so I guess that's why I'm not familiar with it.

Well, the boys avoided the no-no, but they did get shut out. Booooo.
Just saw my first firefly of the season. Not sure what he's doing cruising around in broad daylight, but I guess he knows.

The doves are now in full voice. Sounds like that scene in one of the Kill Bill movies when Bill is playing his flute or whatever it is beside the campfire.

Ah, yes, The Prelude to the Five Finger Death Punch, in C minor. No doves yet. They just pass through and don't stick around but a couple of days. I don't think we've ever seen a firefly up here. Used to have them regularly at the old house in Humble.

Got the Crow Four Point Harness into the truck. Long job. Difficult to remove the old seat belts and the seat since the bolts and huts have not turned in 25 years. Got them all out with the help of Kroll Oil. Best penetrating oil I have found. Had to make modifications for the belts fit. Used the old seat belt bolt points for attachment. Had to lengthen the two lap belts and the yoke with Grade 40 5/16 chain. Fun job. Nice to work on the old truck again. With my illness I have not done much. Today I felt very good having figured out a sleep drug combination which works.
It is good to have a restraint system again. I was not happy driving without.

Home after a thirteen hour day of lets play general hospital, first things first coffee, THC gummies, hydro codeine and Chinese food. Second get this wet bandage off left foot and cut off all these medical bracelets that identify me as a fall risk and who I am. Thanks to military training I can still recite my name, rank and serial number while still being intimidating even while being strapped to a gurney. The coffee is kicking in and my head ache is disappearing faster than anyone who will admit to voting for our president. Don't forget to tell someone you love them every day.

The last rusted bolts I've had to remove were done with an angle grinder, with me finding the Kroil right after. I bought an arc welder and some carbon rods for the next one. 😁 You should have built the whole thing out of chain with snap hooks. That would have been so Mad Max.

In Houston we had them for a couple of weeks. I'm pretty sure the migration path is west of us. Draw a line from Memphis to Beeville.

One drawback I didn't consider was what happens if you drive into a flood. Would be funny to see the look on the rescue diver though.
