Autobiography by a son whose father fought in World War II, Joe Sacco, makes you realize the sacrifices that younger generation made.Title where the zbirds never Sing. The account of what they saw when they liberated Dachau brought tears to my eyes, big tears

Makes me sad to think that others have no idea what the Jews faced…heartbreaking.

The account of what they saw when they liberated Dachau brought tears to my eyes, big tears Indeed… a sight that no person should have to see. Makes me sad to think that others have no idea what the Jews faced…heartbreaking. My first haircut was in a little barber shop owned by a couple of survivors. I had Little Golden Books at home. In the barber shop I looked at a huge book full of pictures of piles of emaciated bodies and ashes. Never again.

Marguerite Duras, The Lover. Slightly different from Middlemarch. Both extremely well written, though.

When you hold a first edition of a major work in your hands, it gives a bookworm warm feelings. I held a 3 volume 1819 set of Ivanhoe and almost cried because I didn't have $1800.
