John must have seen something in her that no one else could have seen. If he thought he could do better then he he certainly had his choice. My brother married a woman that destroyed his relationship with the family. It happens. As for Yoko, đź’©

My brother married a woman that destroyed his relationship with the family. It happens. As for Yoko, đź’© There's a scene in one of the documentaries where John has brought Yoko to the studio with him during a session and the other guys are all discombobulated by her (and George is telling the control room to turn off her mic). The 3 of them huddle together and George and Ringo are like, "You have to get him to make her leave, Paul. She's ruining everything. Why did he even bring her here?"
And Paul says, "Look, the thing is, he loves her. Right? He loves her. And she seems to love him. We should be happy for him. I think we ought to try and make it work."
That moment improved my opinion of Paul as a person a very great deal. Musically, she was a disaster for the band. And she was a pain in the arse to be around. But his friend had found love and he was going to try to make that work.

But if John had just fell in love with Zarnicky, things would have been much better musically and on a personal scale...Zarnicky is well versed in security detail, the sad day would have never happened. Prettier than Yoko too!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: the Beatles needed more ukulele.

She will live in history as the woman who destroyed the Beatles, whether it's true or not.

I can't believe she's 77. Of course, I can't believe I'm 73. Part of me says F* NO! I WON'T BE THIS OLD! The rest of me is just tired.

I wonder why I never heard this? If you’ve never heard that before, I would bet a substantial sum that there’s a lot more great Leonard Cohen that you have yet to discover.

(Just for the record, if anyone doesn't know, this is a Cohen song, too. He [re]wrote it just for Warnes.)

Yes, and I'm working on it. The wife and I listened to the whole "You Want it Darker" album twice today. I had actually never heard of him before he died. Apparently we didn't travel in the same circles.

Apparently we didn't travel in the same circles. I first encountered his music from his 1971 album Songs of Love and Hate. Always liked this one: I first heard Hallelujah on Saturday Night Live after the 2016 election. I thought it sounded like just another anti-religious singer and I really didn't pay it much attention until this week. Now I see that he was a deeply religious person who thought deeply about his relationship with God. In every song/poem he is wrestling with God. He wasn't sure that God is a loving god, but he absolutely loved Jesus and his words. He remained a Jew in his religious life. On this song, I looked at some explanations of the lyrics, as I often do with poetry. Here is a sample of the consensus. I don't believe it's accurate about the timing. He seems to have struggled with the same issues his entire life m "In the song, Cohen doesn't really doubt that God exists. Rather, he struggles with doubt that God is good. The backdrop is that the song was written and recorded in the last years of his life, when Cohen was becoming increasingly ill with leukemia and coming to terms with his impending death"

This band was the start of my hearing loss although my hearing never recovered from Ozzy in San Antonio over 42 years ago.

This band was the start of my hearing loss although my hearing never recovered from Ozzy in San Antonio over 42 years ago. I have been to many, many concerts. I checked out of the music scene when the Scorps were at their hiatus. Saw them two years ago in Vegas while at the Vegas pipe show, they started their tour that year in Vegas and ended it when we were there. One of the top concerts of my life.

This is what I was listening to when I guess everyone else was discovering Leonard Cohen.
