Having only one functioning arm at the moment has had me staying in and listening to music more. I was just going to listen to Disraeli Gears on vinyl, but I decided to pull out my full Cream set on cd instead, I think I’ll listen to all of it.

How's that going? Not good, I’m hearing that I might regain as much as 50% use of it in about six months if I have surgery or 30% if I don’t. At least the pain is manageable. Thanks for asking.

To be fair that mostly relates to strength, only a little movement is lost either way. I’m not sure about the surgery yet, I may get some other opinions before I decide anything.

I've only ever had Wheels of Fire, but I had 4 copies. 1 8-reack, 1 cassette, 1 vinyl, and one CD for the car. Before going into high school, I listened to the 8-track full blast in my Oldsmobile Cutlass. Full album. Only way I could face the day.

Many years ago I was leaving a hotel at Detroit Metro airport after a night of extreme debauchery. I popped the cassette in and crashed the Ford Escort I was driving when I entered the freeway way too fast. Good times.

I think crashing the car would have been the karmic repercussion in that instance and it was totally worth it.

Must be a Detroit thing. 😁

Must be a Detroit thing. 😁 It’s part of a small freeway loop that runs off the main freeway, goes to the airport and to the hotels, etc. then rejoins the main freeway. The entrance ramp comes off a road that runs along side this freeway, but about fifteen feet higher than the freeway surface, since it’s built below grade to accommodate a couple of overpasses. So it’s a short, steep ramp with an almost immediate shift at the bottom. It is also on a curve. If not for the shift at the bottom I would have been fine, but at the speed I was going, I lost control when I reached the bottom and shifted over at the curve. I’ve seen similar arrangements in Texas, at least in the areas people actually live in

Some of the older sections of freeway in Houston are that way, and there were more in Dallas last time I was there. Built when the speed limit was 45 I think. Since then almost all of the freeways in Houston have been rebuilding continously.

Here is a son of a well-known pipe maker who is probably the most famous mandolin player in the country. He hosted the show that replaced "A Prairie Home Companion" when Garrison Keillor retired (and it was renamed "Live From Here"). He also helped revive (or maybe I should say "popularize") the tradition of classical music on the mandolin.

His real dad died from a heroin overdose and his step-dad is a musician. Where does this pipe maker come in, or are we talking about somebody else?
