A set of 8 solar-powered mole getter-ridders. One of my neighbors said they worked for her, so we'll see. Basically, they vibrate the ground, which the moles supposedly don't like.

Or, you could do what a friend of ours did. She would set a lawn chair at a fresh tunnel with a beer (for herself) and a pointed garden shovel (for the mole). Subtraction by division.

I've considered some such approach, though my mind has run to using a .22, and I figured my neighbors might not appreciate it. I was kinda hoping one of the area hawks would decide to perch on the lamppost in front of the house and wait the critter(s) out.

My “moles” are Northern Pocket Gophers. The only time they surface (usually) is to shove out the soil they are excavating. In doing that they are shootable for about two seconds. It’s a losing proposition. A GSP will lie next to a hole for a couple of hours and not see one.

Arrived: the 3 tins of Pipe Force II, 2 tins of Cross Grain Flake, Kiribi lighter, and the little meerschaum disks. I can't remember who mentioned the meerschaum disks, recently, but, turbocat, I think it was you they said suggested them. Now that I have some in hand, I wasn't expecting them to be asymmetrical front-to-back. Does it matter which side is up when they're in the bowl? I could see an argument either way.

The convex side goes down.

I should also mention that picking one that is large enough to leave a slight space below it is where these really shine. I know some bowl sizes don’t allow for that, but when they do 👍.

It may not be super effective in my first use, then. They still help some without it, but it’s not dramatic in my experience. But when there is a small space it serves as a little moisture trap and really makes a difference on many pipes not all of course. I use them in about 80% of my pipes, the other 20% don’t benefit from them.

It didn't this time, but I don't know if that's from the disk absorbing moisture or just from it taking up space, such that there was less tobacco in there in the first place. We'll see how it goes from here.

We'll see how it goes from here. They've made a big difference for me. I also use the Meerschaum shards from Whie Elephant in cobs. The little disks are a little big for a < 3/4 chamber. Although they can be sanded like turbocat does. I'm not that industrious. The shards work well too. But I use the discs in every briar. They'll get dark pretty quickly. But they seem to keep working the same.

I made the move on some Half and Half...will be here later this afternoon. I am looking forward to trying it. 😀 Well, it came later Friday afternoon, as I thought it would. It was a positive smoking experience. One thing I must say is tobacco pipes.com creates the neatest packing jobs I've ever seen.

A set of 8 solar-powered mole getter-ridders. One of my neighbors said they worked for her, so we'll see. Basically, they vibrate the ground, which the moles supposedly don't like. Why would I like getting rid of my mole? I liking my mole. Vibrating not bad idea though.

May have to try that if these thumpers don't work. No new molehills today.
