I always put my tins in the mylar bags as soon as I get them, so I don't have to worry about the seals. Even perfectly sealed tins leak. When I open a bag after I long while there is always a strong tobacco smell. Sometimes I will open a few bags just to sniff the good smell. Same here, but my obsessive tendencies make me want every bit of seal I can get. Get yourself a roll of paraffin tape like is used in scientific and medical labs. It's not expensive and you can get it on Amazon. I've forgotten the brand name. Para-Film or something?

Canoe is based on a word from the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean islands. I wonder about things like how it became the name of a German tobacco. But that's just me.

It’s actually Turkish, I ordered it from Germany, hence the “Smoking is Deadly” warning in German. The tobacco is made by Gladora Tobacco in Turkey. I don’t know the meaning or origin of the name on the tobacco.

It is believed to have been built between 8040 BC and 7510 BC, during the early mesolithic period. The canoe is currently located in the Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands. In 1955, a local farmer discovered the dugout canoe during the construction of the A28 motorway. Because some doubted whether the canoe was actually a watercraft, a replica was used in an experiment that proved it was stable in the water. "

The only thing I can add is that there is a hint of smoked fish and the smell of the ocean in it, which I believe is part of the casing. Even though that may sound odd, it’s not a bad thing. So I guess there could be a water connection to it. 🤪

I just can’t pick for sure yet, casing or the orientals, or both. They list them as Turkish Yayladag and Bitlis.

I can’t recall ever running across them myself, it’s why I’m unsure of what component the flavor is coming from. Maybe one of those do have a smoked fish note and I just don’t know about it.

Recently arrived, (2) 20ct boxes Boneshaker Full Body Cast 6x50, put in humidors with "cigar juice" spray, took near an hour to complete. If one likes 'em xtra strong, that's the variety of that brand, smoking one now

For all of the different pipes I have, I don’t have, and have never tried a reverse calabash to see if there’s anything I’m missing. Always curious. So anyway, I ran across this Viking for next to nothing so I thought I would try it out. I cleaned it up and gave it a quick wax.

The amount of effect depends on so many other variables. Some Peterson System pipes have as much in-shank volume as an advertised reverse Calabash. I have to say that they do not diminish the smoke, IMHO. The hollow porcelain pipes from Denmark are actual Calabashs for instance, as are, technically Vikings and Falcons. The reverse just puts the chamber on the other side of the draft hole in the shank. Congrats on the nice new addition.

This one has a notable calabash like effect, more and better than I was expecting.
