Thank you, Urb. They sure knew how to reel me in, I woke up with a 15% off coupon in my mailbox. Boom, they got me! That's how they get you. First dime bag is free. LMFAO!! 😆 Too profane?....me sorry.

“Cellar building days indeed. I have a lot of 2016 Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew because, back in the good old days of 2016, 14oz tubs were $25 and I took good advantage of a buy 2 get 1 free (no limit) sale at P&C. 😎”
For several years, I constantly had packages shipped to work, much less chance of getting in the wrong mailbox, and not sitting in a 100°+ mailbox. Being a freight company, any damage would be noted at the time of acceptance. And… it insulated me from hearing about it all from the wife.
At one point it raised suspicion by the operations manager at work though, I knew a package was waiting for me and the clerk told me it was on his desk… pretty sure he looked up the return address. He knew that I liked firearms, guessing he was checking.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about it at all. My Stanwell brushed has done just fine. Trevor Talbert's brushed pipes (I think he calls them "raven" finish) are very well regarded.
The brushing doesn't remove enough material to be of any concern.

This arrived on Saturday. The Piccadilly will be cellared for a while as it was tinned on March 21, 2024. At least I had some luck with the Yale Mixture which was tinned in Dec 2022.

Pipe pics required.

Will do urbino, got a 10g sample of Bothy few weeks back (really nice, dark, spicy, peaty, whisky notes), along with Balkan flake, 1792 and Sam's flake, haven't tried the Sam's or 1792 yet, building up courage, lol.

It seems to have become a yearly traditional for me to stumble across a pipe that calls to me just before the Chicago Show... Arrived this morning is this new to me Tom Eltang bamboo shank blasted Dublin. Full set of pictures here: imgur.com/a/0qXHnMUThis makes my fourth Eltang bamboo.

Not in the mail but I purchased a piano from an estate sale and will be picking it up tomorrow when I go back with the trailer. I'm hoping that my children will be more musically inclined then me and can actually put it to some good use!

Back when I first picked up the pipe in 1995, the first really nice pipe I owned was a Peterson Sherlock Holmes Baskerville with some really pretty birds-eye grain on both sides. It went up with my other smokables in '04. While it was never my favorite smoker, I always liked that pipe and I've missed it. I put off buying another one because I thought, "Well, it wasn't like it was a fantastic smoker or anything. It'd be silly to spend money on another one." I'm nothing if not silly:
I did go cheaper this time, at least, and got the sandblast finish instead of the smooth. They had a smooth one with nice bird's-eye grain and it was really tempting, but at almost thrice the price, I just couldn't bring myself to be that silly.
Along with it will be a sleeve of Capstan Navy Flake.

Petersons take a looong time to break in, but the rewards are great.

Lordguyrox really sold me some great Petersons, he was nice to have barely ever smoked them before he got hooked on Dunhills. All fine smokers!

Hey CrustyCat , guess what arrived in the mail just now. Yup. That first sample of Luminaire that you sent. Don't know where it's been, but it got soaking wet, wherever it was, and I would say run over by something. I couldn't see any holes in the baggie, but there was a good bit of loose tobacco in the envelope. I decided the better part of valor was to pitch it.
Sorry about that, but, hey, at least it got here . . . eventually!

I failed to mention the Capstan Navy Flake I got with my Baskerville pipe. The tins that arrived have a tin date of Dec 2022, so I lucked into some pre-aged stuff, there.
