Astley's 44 in the peterson jr bulldog. It's a tiny bowl but I like it and that's all that matters. It's very sporty, Mike. I like it, too.

Enjoying a bowl of Stockton in a Peterson Zulu. My first pipe. My young pit bull rescue Hyacinth is nestled at my hip and a fire burns in the hearth. Enjoy your evening friends!

Mississippi River in Peterson Pipe notes pipe from last year that Mark Irwin put together a small batch of sandblasted 05 shape with deluxe system. Coffee on the side waiting for it to get light enough to finish helping a friend with a few trees we did not finish last Sunday. Another bowl of the same. Job is done and stopped and helped boss feed cows on the way home.

Anyone who wants an ounce of CBG please send me a private message. I'm try to put together a list. There are 2 people on the list now, but I'm afraid I missed someone. I will give out 8 ounces because I want to keep 4 ounces for myself. Pardon my ignorance Ron but, what is CBG? Captain Black Grape. We may need to update the glossary.

Good Sunday Morning! It's a frigid 14° here with a mostly clear sky right now. I scanned a stack of newly arrived postcards yesterday. I'll put them on to the storage disk and start posting them on my blog this afternoon. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Amorelli smooth bent Three Star and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my insulated work coat. Have a good one everybody!

Good morning Patch. Back in 2017 when I was still just starting out. Everyone talked about Three Nuns. But it was gone. Well it was reintroduced. So of course I had to try int. I was excited to try this. When it arrived. It went in to a mason jar. And a bowl full into a pipe. Well after 3 bowls, it wasn’t for me. But listening to everyone here. Saying give tobacco time. Your palette will change. So it sat in its jar. A year or so ago. I tried it again. Hey, this isn’t bad. Last year. It was now one of my favorite morning coffee smokes. After I finish this bowl, i have 1 left. Wish I had bought 2!
So to all you newbies. Give your tobaccos time. (And your pipes) You never know. They may get better with age. Like all the old timers here on the Patch. 😃

Good Morning Again! It's now 15° with a clear, sunny sky. The weather is going to warm up by midweek and the snow will melt off. We seem to be on a rollercoaster with the temperatures here in NE Ohio. I just lit up a bowl of BBF in the Amorelli while sipping my coffee. I have a bit of the BBF left in the jar and I'll mix it with some Scottish Flake later on when I finish this bowl. Time to check the headline news. A good Sunday to you all, my friends!

Happy Sunday! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Sunday cob and coffee. It's 29 with sunshine peeking through the clouds. Supposed to get to 39, not a bad day for getting outside.

A bowl of Three Friars in a Stanwell Dublin. Getting ready to reheat yesterday’s chili for dinner. It’s always better the next day.

Had a couple more bowls of 2021 Gold Brick plug in the 620 Sav rusticated dry system, some 2016 Haunted Bookshop in a Mark Twain cob, and currently finishing some 2016 G.L. Pease Cumberland.
Cumberland is one of those smokes that’s fairly unbalanced and at odds when it’s too fresh, but once this blend has 5-15 years of age on it, it becomes absolutely wonderful. I smoked some samples back in 2016 of some of the first year release (I believe it was already about 10 years aged) and it was wonderful I then bought some tins and when fresh, the dark fired Kentucky is too bold and the white burley element and DFK overtake the whole profile and it’s very flat otherwise. Once I aged the first tin for at least five more years is when it started to get a cinnamon-sweet-tingly dark fired profile that has substantially melded and smoothed. Even 2-4 years was nothing special. A great example of longer aging a burley/VA blend to get the best out of it.
Next smoke is going to be 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match. The match blend by Sutliff in this case is easily better than the brand name Edgeworth was, but I won’t be restocking it once it’s gone. It falls squarely into the OTC “Sutliff rough chopped floor sweeping grade flavored burley” category. Cocoa, molasses, maybe a faint hint of annisette. Rough crimp cut and full of stem pieces and crumbly dust. Good for what it is but usually turns foul/sour/ashy around half way through each and every bowl. Smoking it in a Great Dane Egg cob.
