![](https://i.postimg.cc/66bYXdGC/IMG-6767.jpg) My pics have gone the Hurricane route but found this as mine was, only difference mine had wire wheel covers, same color, black interior, I loved that car! Nice! Same color as my 71 T-bird.

![oldcdgr](//storage.forums.net/6447321/images/juvLHSbPyjgJlrDFxGym.gif) In 1965 I was single, bought a 65 Ford Galaxie with 427, 2 4bbls, gas was cheap, later got married, traded it on a Volkswagen, cried that night! We had a '67 and then a '72 when I was a kid. There's a long story about that '67 involving my brother getting badly choked and my folks trying to rush him to the hospital from out at my grandparents' farm. Dad was so pissed at that car because he couldn't get it to top 90 on the road to town.
Turned out he had the parking brake on.

Well, these things happen. I drove for a week with the parking brake on. Didn't know why it was running so bad until I put it on the ramps and went to set the parking brake. We usually never use them in Houston as it's so flat. I suppose your brother wasn't damaged too badly?

It was a piece of hard candy and it melted enough in his throat that he was getting a little air. In fact, I think he had coughed it up and swallowed it by the time they got to the hospital. He's still very sensitive to any signs of choking, though. When his kids were younger, he got very agitated very quickly whenever any of them got choked for a second.

We were at the inlaws house for Easter lunch and our 3 years old son got a piece of hard candy and was choking. We didn't notice until my wife's BIL had him on the floor and got it out. I didn't like the guy before that, but I changed my mind.

So, it was rush to the hospital, then not need it, then get new brakes on the Galaxie. ![:)](//storage.forums.net/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

One of my kids had some goldfish in a snack cup and started choking - fortunately we were just getting back on the road from a pit stop and my wife had looked back and saw her color changing. I threw on the flashers and rushed to get her out of the carseat to do the heimlich. Fortunately it came out with just a few taps. There was a car behind us that freaked at first but then came over and checked on us. They were worried I had gotten road rage with how I popped out!

You pulled a trailer at 90MPH? Yep. That was just keeping up with traffic. It was a SeaRay on a trailer. New tires all around. I know it's crazy, but everyone pulls trailers fast in Texas.

I worked for CFS Continental back in the 80's and they had a free CPR / first aid class offered to employees on a Saturday...no pay but you got the certificate for free. ![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d5/CFS_Continetal_logo.jpg/330px-CFS_Continetal_logo.jpg) A week later, my firstborn was choking on a piece of meat, and I immediately knew what to do with the Heimlich maneuver. Everyone in the room was stunned at what they saw...no hero here, just really thankful that the company sponsored the event.

The seat belt on the driver side finally was severed owing to retractor failure and being caught in the door closing too many times. There are also other cuts which I mended. This has been a headache since day one. Replacement with an original type is very expensive and not worth a toot. Poor design. So I ordered a four point racing harness which is cheaper than a retractable belt set up. I had one in my Austin Healy long ago and find them easy to use, comfortable and certainly better than the original. Minor modification for installation. This will not get caught in the door.

I had wore one of those once, can't remember exactly. Probably when I sat in my friends funny car. Thought I was going to have to have one for my Roadrunner. I was running in class A/gas/auto. Close to the cutoff for helmets, firesuits, roll bar, and 4 point seatbelts.

I cannot overstate how irritating it is to find that GD seat belt caught in the door! Ford failed there along with the GD headlamp lens designed to not emit light. I feel like I ought to strap a flashlight on the front bumper. The rest of the truck is perfectly designed.

They added lens covers which ought to be clear but are instead block light. Too costly to replace the headlight assembly. So, I drive slow at night which is good as we have elk on the highway this time of year.

There are some good products on the market that polish out the oxidation, or one can put in auxiliary lights, hopefully properly aimed.

I feel like I ought to strap a flashlight on the front bumper. The rest of the truck is perfectly designed. I've had some troublesome seat belts, but I found that someone usually has already come up with a fix for that problem. My 17 RAM had the worst headlights I ever saw. A day spent swapping in LEDs and I'm very happy with it. High and low, tail and backup lights all upgraded and the computer reprogramed. Never get flashed and the high beams are like 747 landing lights.

I ran the San Joaquin valley (Bakersfieldto Los Banos) with a guy that had aircraft lights on his Peterbilt…. They were aimed low and really lifted the zero-viz fog, I ran the backdoor, and we plowed through whatever came our way.
He ran them muted, found the sweet spot, and we had a lot of followers.

The president of my model rocket club had replaced his high beams on his 62 Chevrolet with actual landing lights. They were impressive for 1967. I don't think they were brighter than my current high beams, but close.

KC two forward and one back for those pesky tail gaters. I have two small Helas on the truck front. They need a new relay and should wired better. Another task. I had a backup spot on the headache rack but never used it for tailgaters. That could be considered a form of assault if the driver was blinded and crashed. I have other ways of dealing with them. State law prohibits any rear facing light which is not red on the highways. I either ignore them or pull onto the shoulder and let them pass. While many are jerks, here, it could be someone trying to get to hospital or some other emergency. I had one aggressive jerk from Colorado tailgate me for miles and would not pass when I slowed down. This stretch of highway had no shoulder to pull onto. I looked in the rear view mirror and got the middle digit. I stuck my arm straight out the window and discharged three rounds from a 1911 into the road cut bank and then waived him to pass gun in hand. He shot past me. The traffic behind him slowed way back. I do not recommend that technique and was ashamed at loosing my cool. Could have ended up badly for both of us.

There are some good products on the market that polish out the oxidation, or one can put in auxiliary lights, hopefully properly aimed. I tried one but it did nothing. I have tried toothpaste, baking soda. The plastic is 26 years old now. I should check into a replacement light assembly with the brighter lights used now. I sure miss the old sealed beam glass lens lights. Just another item to spend $$ on.

Then you can wipe it off with alcohol and spray it again. My wife's Scion is running with hairspray for a year now and still good, except turning a little bit amber. She parks out of the sun and doesn't drive it much.

I will try the 3M Kit and finish with the hairspray. If it can keep those Texas Buffonts in place it ought to work for the headlights! Any particular brand? I am not up on hairspray.
