Good afternoon all, I’m enjoying a bowl of Grousemoor in a Clarence Mickles billiard, stamped 1994, at least I think it’s a 4. Mix of sun and clouds today as the bird activity continues to tick up along the shoreline. I hope you all enjoy your day!

Evening all, hope you're all doing well, about to sit down to a football game with some Dark Flake in the Peterson Derry 03 Rusticated, and a nice big mug of camomile tea.

I had an entertaining night of pipe smoking last night. A couple of friends came here to Michigan from India on business. We went out to dinner and went back to my house afterwards for an evening of catching up and Guinness Extra Stout. When they came in, they immediately started looking at my pipes and telling me stories of how their fathers and grandfathers smoked pipes long ago and how they remembered it was common in India long ago but they don’t see anyone doing it anymore and how they hadn’t thought about it in a long time. Then they asked if I had pipes they could smoke. I set them up with pipes and I had the jar of Mac Baren Mixture out so Mixture for everyone.
We had a great night talking, drinking and smoking pipes. I gave them each a pipe and tobacco to take with them. Savinelli’s and Mixture for each of them.

One of my favorite memories is sitting around a picnic table with 5 friends while our kids played in and around the pool, passing around a 5th of Tullamore Dew. 2 are dead now and one is in the nursing home with dementia. But my memory is still bright. Money can't buy that kind of thing.

Trying to sneak in a bowl of OGS before the storms hit, in the Iafisco Lovat: Very nice briar, truly a stunner! Thanks, Geoff. Don't know if I'll get it smoked, or not. Forecast says the storms are still a ways off, but I've got wind, thunder, and scattered raindrops that say otherwise.

Forecast was wrong. It is pouring right down out here, but I've managed to shimmy up into the corner of my little smoking porch and stay pretty well out of it. Just watching and hearing and smelling the rain.

That is one hell of a Dunnie, John. Nice get. Thanks! Chance find. I got a great deal on it as the dealer hadn’t worked out the pipe's date and had priced it like a 60's Root Briar. 😎

My 49/50 Root Briar takes good light and a magnifying glass to make it out.

My 49/50 Root Briar takes good light and a magnifying glass to make it out. More like he never looked to try and date and admitted so. Yes, the stampings were buffed down some, but are good enough that I could tell there was a patent number ending in /20 before pulling out my LED flashlight and lifting my glasses to look close. The dealer has 10 to 15 years younger eyes than I have.
