8/23 Sutliff Pipe Force Ep. 6 in an MMC Elite reverse calabash cob. “A woody, tangy mixture of select Virginia leaf is elevated with stoved Katerini, adding dark berry and spice. Dark-fired Kentucky and St. James Perique enrich the base with earthy notes, pepper, and light smokiness. Episode VI is a savory, vinous evolution from the natural sweetness and dark flavor of the Va/Per genre. Richness with nuance all the way down.”
This blend is a masterpiece! I’m on my fourth tin of it since it came out and that’s a real statement for me the way I bounce around from blend to blend.

“Pipe Force, a series that celebrates pipe smoking by showing innovation isn’t a thing of the past, there are still frontiers to explore.”
I have to agree and say that ever since I got early access to all of them, I’ve thought they all push the envelope and do several things never done before in pipe tobacco. 5 is one of my favorites the way they get that melange of BBQ/fruity/woodsy range by hot pressing then stoving rustica leaf, stoved VA, and cavendished Katerini.
I sure hope they re-release all these this fall and do huge runs. Did you see the new Sutliff bulk Per Jensen blends just released last week? I haven’t tried those yet.
The Birds of a Feather series pushed the envelope as well. I still have to get to many of them but really thought Uno was great.

Wow amazing experience at the furniture city pipe club in grand rapids. I got asked to be a member and joined what a great group of pipers! I just finished up a bowl of haunted bookshop and wow just wow now i know why Silver is always smoking it. Haunted bookshop after 1 bowl id have to say is one of my favorites now. To finish the night I am smoking some Balkan tradition flake out of my bings favorite made by one of the head members named Eric. What a great overall time! I know many of those guys, several of them go to the NASPC show in Columbus, Ohio. If you can make it, come to NASPC this August and you’ll meet me, johnlawitzke , and many others. Several vendors will be there; Sutliff usually, BlueRoomBriars, SmokingPipes, a bunch of pipes for sale, hopefully a bunch of tobacco, and a patio full of people smoking and hanging out. Good to hear that you’re making it there this year!

I’ve heard good things about the Per Jensen Blender’s series and have some of each on the way as well as Pipe Force Episode II. None of these or the Birds series have been “just another blend” being sold as a “new or modern” version. They have been truly unique in fantastic ways.

Good Morning! It's 68° with a partly cloudy sky here as the sun rises from behind the neighborhood trees. I managed to get almost a full night's sleep, so I'm running later than usual. This afternoon I have to make a supermarket run. Starting off the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Savinelli Venere 128 smooth billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the workshop tobacco table. Have a good one everybody!

Good morning, it’s hot and humid here again this morning. After keeping the dogs at bay, I’m smoking a bowl of Old Gowry in a Sasieni “Olde England” straight Prince. I just fired up my coffee bean roaster to roast up this month’s batch of beans (while drinking coffee made from last month’s batch). I hope you all have a good one!

Good Morning Again! It's 71° right now with a still partly cloudy sky and bright sunshine. Just lit up a bowl of Scottish Flake in the MM Mark Twain cob while sipping my coffee and watching another streaming video on YouTube.

That sounds like a great morning! I have always wanted to learn to roast my own coffee. I enjoy black dark roasted coffees very much it pairs well with most tobaccos I am finding. My family prefers coffee over tea since 1773 and my father and grand father made it a point lol. Anywho keep on keeping on.

I started with a popcorn style roaster, and now have a larger capacity drum roaster. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you get a system nailed down it’s pretty easy. The results are far superior to any coffee I’ve ever bought, so I think it’s worth the extra trouble to spend a couple hours a month roasting up my batch. A good place to get started is Sweet Maria’s, they have gear, tutorials and green beans. You should give it a try!

It's gotten much more expensive but still a fun hobby. My roaster is from Behmor and will do a pound at a time.

Good day! I got an early bent start on cutting the grass this morning before the temps get up to near 100. Right before I finished I hit a tree root and bent one of the blades really bad. Call into the mower guy. I hope he can get to it before I need it again. Luckily the grass is growing pretty slowly right now. Got showered up and made it back outside before the heat to get a nice smoke in. Today it is Loch Ness in my Peterson Donegal Rocky 80s. Nice smoke! Hope everyone is having a good day.

The rain skirted past us. Still predicting light rain within half hour. We'll see. I'm on the front porch with some Friar's Bayou in the barrel-shaped meerschaum.

It’s a hot and humid afternoon here in the Garden State, mid 90’s according to the temp on my truck. I got all my chores done early so I’m settling in with some Inns of Court in a 1952 Dunhill billiard. Supposed to be some rough weather later as this heat breaks ahead of a cold front. Sunday night’s storms knocked out power to a bunch of homes just north of here, so it’s times like these I’m thankful for the Generac.

Just got back home from my dads shop. Smoking some haunted bookshop an I'm really enjoying the retrohale taste and sensation it gives my nose. I am about to start the television series called "hell on wheels". It's about the building of the transcontinental railroad. I was told it is an interesting show for the time period I am studying.

Some Triple Crown in this morning's Jursa bulldog, with just enough coffee to take evening meds...around mid-day I finished off the Sutliff RL-PR in a Lorenzo pot.
