I just came across this that I posted at another site awhile ago. With all the Falcon Madness that seems to be going on right now, I figured it only appropriate to share this. All tongue in cheek of course
I figured it is my duty to share the proper Falcon maintenance plan... if you are going to insist on smoking one of these pipes. So...
It is important to be properly prepared when you are going to do this cleaning.
Ensure that you have the following laid out. Plastic bag of some sort, preferably larger like a grocery bag. Garbage can nearby. Some paper towel. A shot glass full of vodka or other spirit that you like that is relatively neutral. Once you have all of these things ready, you can begin the process.......
- Open up plastic bag.
- Place Falcon pipe into bag.
- Deposit bag into the garbage can
- Proceed to slug down that shot in preparation...
- Now slap yourself several times for buying a falcon pipe
- Use paper towel to wipe the tears from your eyes as a result of the self flagellation
That should do it

I have to admit that I'm struggling with mine. I'm not a heavy puffer but this pipe gets hot. It seems to like flakes and plugs better than ribbons, but what pipe doesn't.

I haven't smoked mine enough to give it a thumbs up or down, I've been feeding it well dried VA flake rubbed out with good success. It may have something to do with the meer lined bowl but heat isn't a problem. Down the line I'll try some Burley and see how that fares. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground with Falcons,,,you either like em or regret spending the money on them.

I may get a meer bowl, puff. The bowls are cheap enough that I should hit a winner at some point. I'm not giving up yet.

If you keep having problems with your Falcon you can send it and your extra bowls to me and I will determine the problem after I smoke it for a while.

I enjoy ALL my Falcon Pipes with custom made bowls by me or other makers. Personally, I find them great smokers and easy to maintain.
Metal pipes are definitely not for every pipe smoker!!!

Funny...don't own a metal pipe...somehow metal, to me, just doesn't go with pipe smoking (tobacco, that is).

I can appreciate these pipes, but personally have no desire to own one. Big Jim had 1 But I don't remember it being smoked very often, I don't think he really enjoyed the Falcon pipe very much
