Thought I'd show off my collection of Basil Meadows pipes. Great smokers, great designs, and reasonably priced artisan pipes. He does pretty durn good for a varmit! This tomato has a Wooly Mammoth ferrule. This squashed tomato is my EGR pipe. This is the first Bing pipe Basil made. I got the correct specs for the Merchant Service model that Crosby preferred, and Basil turned out an accurate copy. This is the first pipe I got from Basil.

The squashed tomato is my favorite of the bunch, Jim. Cool pipe.

Great herd of Basil's. I always think of your Basil Meadows Bing when someone mentions one of his pipes.

Jim told me about his Bing from Basil so I had to get one. Basil is a true gentleman and the pipe is wonderful.

I see some CD Blend in one of the posts JimInks. I love that blend by Sutliff. The pipes ain't bad either.

Those are Basil's tobaccos, he took the photos. I love the Bing, in fact, I've been fixated on getting a Merchant Service Replica from him for a good year. I'll propose the idea to him as soon as I can. Love that elephant foot/horn that you got first.

My Basil Bing is one of my best smokers plus it adds a little class to my ugly mug.

As for the Bing, I think everybody should own one. They are great smokers, classy looking, well balanced, and the length of the stem keeps the bowl out of your line of sight, which is a plus for me when I am drawing.

I don't like this. Your Merchant Marine has better grain than mine, but mine still has a better stem!https://thebriarpatchforum.com/post/new/1308

Not to get too nasty with the forums necromancy, what ever happened to Basil Meadows / Red Dog Pipes ? Basil is still making pipes and going to pipe shows. I just saw him in Chicago. He just hasn’t been spending time on forums.

Basil more or less burned out on forums, but he's also very busy. He's been trying to get into his mobile home, which he moved, and the results would have made the writers of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home blush. And he often works six days a week. That leaves him with little play time, though, as John noted, he still makes pipes, and pens, too. You can see what's going on at his Facebook page.
