My wife is pretty indifferent to it as long as I don't smoke in the house - at least when she is there. She did buy me a box of cigars one Christmas, so she is at least not hostile to my smoking.

My wife of 44 years tolerates my cigar and pipe smoking quite well, as long as I keep it outdoors or in my car (with her not in it). She has smoked an occasional cigar when driving late at night, but she smokes those terrible little cherry flavored cigars. Once in a great while, she will join me on the smoking patio with one of those - then I sit upwind! I will say she likes my pipes much more than the cigars. She will come out to see how the latest tobacco smells and her opinions are thus far favorable.
I think she figures I could have much worse habits or hobbies!

Pretty sure she digs it. She likes the way it smells in my beard and she is taking me to the KC pipe show for my birth day

The spouse-to-be never complains about my pipe smoking. While she does not share my enjoyment, at least she does not complain. Well, at least until she finds out how expensive this hobby can be!

Remember, like her, you got it all on sale! Mine is fine with my pipe smoking just wants it outside. She suffers from mild asthma with tobacco smoke bothering it the most. Probably has to do her mother and father hotboxing her as a child saying she will get used to it and the doctors are all crazy. Needless to say, they are not in her life today. They are really messed up people.

I cannot disagree with her logic.

Well, I'd say he's okay with it, since him smoking his pipe got me interested in doing so! The pipe I ordered should be here later this week.

She supports my attending the AZ Pipe Club - gets me out of the house. LOL.
But, I haven't pressed smoking inside. It would be a fight I could win, but won't due to respect and resale of the home.

Although I'm banned from smoking in the house (which I'm actually on board with) my wife is supportive and especially appreciates that it de-stresses me. She likes the smell of most aromatics, a tin of Blood Red Moon was part of my valentine's day gift this year.

Ten years ago my wife used to buy me cigars for my birthday. Nowadays she won't even tolerate smoking in the house. I feel like it's a bait and switch Married in November 2001, the first 3 years were good. My Valerie smoked cigarettes indoors, I enjoyed my pipes and cigars as well indoors. In the Summer of β05 my wife decided to stop smoking. Within a year Valerie developed asthma, so no more smoking indoors for me, because she would say β your smoke is β triggering my asthma β! It was getting to the point if I smoked outdoors, once I went back inside she would yell β go shower, put your clothes in the wash....the smoke odor is triggering me β!! If I smoked a pipe or cigar at work or on the way home as long as I did not tell Valerie I enjoyed a pipe a few times today ALL was okay. I ONLY triggered her if she noticed I was smoking outside walking towards my garage. Her lung specialist diagnosed her with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity known as MCS, which to this day is NOT recognized by the AMA. Once Valerie was diagnosed with MCS it was like I was living in a war zone in my own home! Our marriage was never the same!! She went Country line dancing every Friday night, many wore perfumes or cologne never triggered her, but my cologne triggered her and I was asked to β please stop wearing any cologne or deodorants with a scent β. I explained this to her Dr, she was next to me when her Dr told me β your wife also needs to see a psychiatrist, seems she has selective triggers and your one of them β! Her own Dr told me β your wife needs to be on medications to help with her mental health issues β!! Valerie never took her doctors advice, she refused to see a psychiatrist. The next 4 plus years was like living in hell. We grew far apart and was NOT there for me at all once I became ill in 2011, even though I was always at her side the 4 times she was hospitalized. Iβm divorced since 2013, Iβve learned....NEVER AGAIN!!!

That's a difficult story Ted, I'm sorry.
My wife is "supportive"...meaning she's fine with me smoking a pipe or cigar...outside. She likes that I refurbish and sell lots of pipes...not only for my enjoyment of the work itself, but for the additional side income. She has good taste in the shapes and graining of pipes, but she does not gift me pipes nor tobacco; in fairness to her, it's certainly because she knows I'm quite selective / picky.

Mine won't gift me pipes or tobacco because he doesn't want to 'contribute to my early death.' I do think it would be cool if she saw a tin of tobacco and thought to buy me some. Maybe some day.

I did argue once by asking her, 'what image comes to mind when you think of a pipe smoker?' She said, 'an old man'. Then I replied, 'exactly - OLD, much older than I am, and not dead.' Just a brilliant deduction. The obviousness of it is overwhelming.

My wife is Cuban , so smoking is a family tradition , cigars are apart of every family gathering. I have just introduced pipe smoking , the wife likes the smell better as well as she said it does not stay on my clothes long. I still enjoy a good cigar but I am enjoying my pipe journey.
