Is there going to be one this year? And is it going to be all aromatics, or everything under the Sun?

I do quite a bit of shipping for the wife, she re-sells high end purses on Ebay, even with our discount priority mail has risen, if this is to take place like in the past, each recipient would shell out close to $20.00 each time a large flat rate priority package is sent.

How about a "Primo Pass" with only aged and/or rare blends? The box would stay smaller and, therefore, lower shipping costs. We have a fairly seasoned group here and it could be epic!

I think that the 2016 box pass was all aromatic blends, which is why I wondered if this one was going to be different.

Just wondering, what is your thoughts of the tamps that was in the 2016 box pass?

Howdy. I'm still to all of this. I get the idea, but could someone tell me how it works? It sounds like fun.

Just wondering, what is your thoughts of the tamps that was in the 2016 box pass? When I got my first Rockwell tamper, I will admit that I was sceptical. After all, the simple Czech tool did everything I needed. Then, on a podcast of Levine's, a guest said that in his tamping through the smoke, he preferred to lightly tamp "rolling" the tamper between his forefingers with light pressure. The flat Czech tool bar doesn't do this as smoothly. Now my Rockwell tamper is used religiously with every smoke... it is my constant smoking companion.

Howdy. I'm still to all of this. I get the idea, but could someone tell me how it works? It sounds like fun. This is how it worked in the past. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/329/box-pass-2016In light of that, I can see why cobguy's suggestion mmakes sense....When we did the large priority box, it was like smoking from a tobacco fire hydrant...unless you smoke on the level of Jiminks, you really weren't able to put a dent in trying the blends out, especially if you are like me and you smoke more on the road instead of casually smoking from the box. Even with culling small samples and putting them in mylar, it was easy for the samples to get over dry before I smoked them, and the blends in the box that weren't smoked as quickly had to go through a rejuvenation/ rehydration process by cobguy and Papiper if I remember correctly. Easily obtained one ounce samples available in bulk by a forum member can be had quite cheaply from the local tobacconist or online, tinned offerings (in my opinion) and rare/aged samples would seem to make more sense. My perception may be wrong, but it seems that most smokers smoke either aromatics or they smoke regular straight tobaccos, so it may make sense to have an aro-box pass and a straight box pass...of course there are some tobacco's that us predoninately straight tobacco smokers smoke that are labeled as an aro that do not fit into strictly either category that appeals to the other...example erinmore flake comes to my mind.

I Managed the 2016-2017 box pass. Frankly, keeping track of where the box was and who got it next was a bit of a pain. I did notice that there were a lot of aromatics but there were also some very high end non-aros. I have the box in my garage and need to sort through the dregs and see what is salvageable. There is the expense of sending a rather large box forward. If anyone is interested in managing the next go around then let me know. The rules are pretty simple. Sign up for the pass and send your name, mailing address, hone number and email address to the "Box Master". The BM will collate the list and devise an order of shipment to the participants. The box holder gets the box for 2 weeks and gets to take, or try, whatever blends they want. The box holder should then add a blend or something a pipe smoker could use ie, tampers, pouches etc. and forward to the next person on the list once the Box Master confirms that the next person is ready to receive it. Sounds simple, right? The last box pass had people from several forums involved. I recommend that only members of The Briar Patch be allowed to participate. So, if anyone wants to take this on then PM me and I'll get the next "starter box" on the way.

Sounds sensible to me. I would be willing to donate a few tins to get things started, but frankly I have so much tobacco on hand that I have never even tried, that to participate would be kind of pointless for me, but I will be glad to help out. As I stated earlier, I do a lot of shipping for the wife, with the investment of a $20.00 digital scale and shipping through paypal, more ofteh than not it is much cheaper sto ship "parcel select" from my hope and using Paypal shipping, no waiting in lines, a 10% discount from USPS, complimentary tracking, and no waiting in lines at the post office, and the shipment typically arrives at the destination maybe only a day or two longer. I can even with a few clicks of the mouse, have the postal worker pick it up from my door is I am home, or just drop it in the parcel chute of the post office that I drive by every day. oaxacaborn.com/2012/10/01/paypal-shipping-tutorial/Dead nuts accurate and comes in handy for weighing tobacco's and pipes. www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scales-Table-Postal/dp/B004W7IOV4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499012273&sr=8-1&keywords=AWS-postal
