"Command Decision", 1948. Clark Gable, John Hodiak, Bryan Donlevy, Van Johnson, Walter Pidgeon, Marhsall Thompson, Warner Anderson, Ray Collins. Some very fine actors of the 1940s and 50s.
A WWII drama based upon a stage play. The tale of an Army Air Force Bomber command flying daylight precsion bombing raids over Germany beyond the range of Fighter escort. Heavy losses and tough decisions. Lots of politics. More talk than aciton but we get an idea just how difficult it is to manage a campaign.
Gable really flew combat missions over Europe during the war. Something I did not know about him.
Some great performances without the heavy handed heroics seen in some war movies.

As a James Garner fan from his days on the Rockford Files I just added the above movie to my “ must watch “ list.

"36 Hours", 1964, was another good one. Interesting story about a soldier the German's try to trick into revealing what he knows about the coming invasion of Europe by the Allies. With Rod Taylor and Eva Marie Saint.
"Hour of the Gun", 1967. Garner plays Wyatt Earp. Jason Robards has an interesting interpretation of Doc H.

In the wee hours of the morning I took advice and watched “ Murphy's Romance “. I really enjoyed the movie, guess because I was a sap for romance in my younger days!! I’d give this movie a solid 8/10👌👍
Next...The Great Escape

… watched Avengers Infinity War...7 out of 10 That is the last movie I saw as well. I think I too would give it a 7. I hope the next Avengers movie is a little less dark and dreary.

You must have seen The Great Escape before. If not, well, you are in for a fun ride.
I cannot exagerate the influence Steve McQueen had on my friends back then. Cutoff sweatshirts, tan jeans, motorcycles, although mostly Hondas and Benellis. Triumps were a little pricey back then.

When I was younger I did not have time to sit and enjoy a movie. So, nope....have not yet had the pleasure of watching The Great Escape.....but looking forward to watching this movie👍👍 PS I owned a Triumph Bonneville, always needed to be worked on, so I learned fast. Wish I never sold that machine!

The only motorcycle I owned which did not seem to require much maintenance was a WL Harley Davidson, much like a two-wheel tractor which just kept chugging along.

With modern electronics, there is no reason why any motorcycle should be less than dependable... right?

I cruised I-10 for 9+hours averaging 85mph with no problem. I had added a fairing, footrests saddle and top bags, and a seat bag. Drink holder on the clutch mount.

At the motel, all the accessories were off in 10 minutes and I was riding a naked classic. I-10 on a naked bike is no fun. My nephews FXR was not something I envied.

Toshtego, we have derailed the thread, but if you saw my Gold Wing trike, you would believe me on the Bonnie. Many moons ago I transformed my ‘87 Honda Goldwing Aspencade into a trike.....much better and more stable ride! The early Aspencade machines used a 7 1/4 pound weight on the front fork to stabilize the steering and the front suspension. Any of you guys that know Honda’s and older Aspencades that are handy know what I’m talking about.....what a joke!

To get back on task - last night I watched Murder on the Orient Express (1974) with Albert Finney and an amazing group of players. Highly entertaining. When you have John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Ingrid Bergman, Vanessa Redgrave and several other worthies chiming in you are likely going to have an outstanding film.

"Capatin Boycott", 1947. An independent English film about the County Mayo Uprising of 1888 resulting from the local bailliffs evicting tenant farmers off the land owned by the English and Anglo Irish aristocracy. Featuring the man who gave his name to our lexicon of political action. Many notable English and Irish actors from the era.

"Heist", 2001. Another David Mamet Caper film with Gene Hackman, Delroy Lindo, Danny DeVito, Sam Rockwell, and some of Mamet's Stock Troupe- Rebecca Pidgeon and other notable faces from his past.
Not one of his best but a good story. Mamet dialogue is sharp edged, highly stylized and an acquited taste. I know someone who does a good imitation. Plenty of the plot twists he his famous for.
If you like Caper movies, this is worth the time. 8/10.

Was watching an Abbott & Costello rarity, Rio Rita, but I wanted something a little darker...well, a lot darker. So, I picked The Ghoul with Boris Karloff. Plex is so awesome!
By the way, I would rate The Ghoul a 9/10 horror for the period. Ernest Thesiger is as creepy as always. He and Karloff were also in The Old Dark House.
