Can't think of anything worse than bad Chinese food...other stuff you can usually get through...bad Chinese...gak. Walt, I can! Getting violently ill within 3 hours of eating Chinese food and severe food poisoning, ended up in the ER and given Ipecac to clean out my stomach. Happened over 30 years ago, a few days I will never forget. That happened to a friend of mine in Kansas while driving cross country in 1972. It also happened to me on a road trip in the mid '90s. Made it home in time to reach the bathroom door and projectile vomit across the room into the bath tub. "Good shooting", my wife remarked.

2 boiled eggs for lunch, burritos for dinner later on. Looking forward to that.
I've already taken my Lansoprazole to protect my stomach from the Cholula I'll be pouring over the burrito!

soon to nuke up Schwan ham/cheese omlet with added sausage links. Side of Keurig k-cup hot cocoa in smoking room & continue with the papers. I'm very basic now. "Eat to live", not the opposite.

My wife and I just enjoyed a “Jack’s Pepperoni Pizza” from Walmart. They are frozen but they cook in about 11-12 minutes in a 425 degree oven. They have a thin crust, which becomes nice and crispy, with a mild tomato sauce. They a very inexpensive ($2.50) each and are delicious. YMMV. Makes preparing lunch for two easy and quick.

Thanks Martin. I believe they are healthier than most pizzas. They are about 12-14 inches in diameter, a thin layer of mozzarella cheese with just enough sauce to notice. Maybe 15-18 thin slices of pepperoni all on a thin crust. 3-4 slices is a gracious plenty for my wife and myself. Pretty sure some could eat the entire pizza and still want more.

for supper coming up soon: Indoor grill a Zweigles white hot. Side of Mussleman's applesauce.
Never heard of this till seen same on a noon TV newscast. National Pie Day? OK...will accept same. Along with tea for dessert while watching Jeopardy at 7:30 tonite...our local store (Tops) has made in their bakery, mini pies, one decent serving. Wifie: heated up in nuker for 18secs & a bit of Reddi-Whip on top. Me: Chocolate éclair pie, no topping needed. Gotta remember to take outa the freezer about 45mins ahead of time. Said little pies usually a buck apiece or other times, 3 for $5. Good deals
Lesse if anybody else enjoying a pie of some sort today

Baked potato and Brussels sprouts...side of coffee. Not much but had a big lunch. Just enough for vitamins and fiber.
Like Ol Ed...these days I live to eat...my desires are pretty minimal. Have to try that pizza that AJ mentioned. Local pizza just plain sucks.

Planning on another Hamburger Steak or Salisbury Steak. Salad, no dressing but vinegar. No starch side dish. Too fat. Just came back from the weight loss clinic and I am up to 320 with my clothes on. Lots of clothes: long underwear, jeans, flannel shirt, wool sweater, heavy socks, heavy boots with steel toes. That all ought to be good for 10 pounds, at least. I am bloated and notice it at the belt. I need to cut my portions and eliminate some things like peanut butter and a spoon.

just finished the whatcha smoking thread & finished vacuuming the entire downstairs...mind's made up will be Schwan Angus burger on indoor grill. Side of Mussleman's applesauce. In my creaky old age, not interested in food variety, just a couple rotations to keep the hunger away. Keeping prep time as much of a minimum as possible.

Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY Much as I love to cook for the wife and myself...getting too old to stand at the stove and counter top all day...most of my soups and other tasty treats requires at least 4 hours prep time...that translates to additional pain pills to prop myself up..just not worth it anymore...so me an ol Ed understand...to take it easy on these old bones these days. Breakfast was in a daze...something simple with coffee...lunch not much better...think it was a sandwich...probably roast beef and cheese...dinner is coming up...leaving it to the wife this time.

I needed some beef in my diet today. So instead of Hardee’s I figured I’d go up a notch or two and order from a burger place down here named “ Five Guys “. The roll was hard as a rock and the burger was a dried hockey puck. Brought the burger back, got a refund. Stopped at Hardee’s window and ordered a 1/3 lb. mushroom swiss burger......worth every penny, half the price of “ Five Guys “!!!

She drives an hour and a half each way to work so I try to cook dinner a couple nights a week. Mostly easy stuff but I try to give her a break.
