Buffalo Wings ... I'd only give them a 5 out of 10 on the heat scale but they taste great.

Red Beans and Rice with hot Italian sausage. Washing it down with some home brewed root beer my friend makes. Its got some kick to it, about half the kick of a regular beer.

Looks like it's grilled ham and cheese with tomato bisque or a frozen pizza. I need to get to the market. Or I could just get drunk and eat a sleeve of crackers later. haha It is Friday after all. I ate like a king from last Friday until Tuesday. Had some childhood friends over- More like family really. Nothing beats having people you care about enough to cook for around. toshtego I agree that the UK beans are better. Speaking of UK groceries! Fresh jar of pickled onions from amazon today. haha That will make a nice beer snack later.

Bachelor Ramen Stir Fry: prepare Ramen*, drain and set aside. In fry pan, sauté ground beef, onions & olives. Add Ramen, a pat of butter and sprinkle the Ramen powder and garlic powder over and a few drops of lemon juice. Stir and toss in pan to heat preference, top with fresh sliced tomato wedges and serve. Easy prep and quick clean up.
* I use 1 & 1/2 packages of the noodles and 1/2 the Ramen powder to reduce salt content.

The Crock Pot slow cooker is maybe the most significant tool for bachelors since the Vice Grip pliers. One can have a nice home cooked meal which is ready when you finally make it home and without much fuss. I have used one for over 40 years.

It has to be BEEF!
Now, I cook chicken and pork and various fish, the odd duck and turkey, elk and deer. I eat vegetarian on occasion. But Beef, there is nothing else which does the trick. Any cut, any time, prepared any way. It just has to be Beef! I certainly raised my share of them from calves to neatly cut and wrapped in paper. I love them when they live, dote on their every need and comfort and arrange their end for processing as quickly and painless as possible. Something I cannot live with out.
Beef.

My wife would eat meat if she knew the animal was well looked after and slaughtered quickly and painlessly.

My wife would eat meat if she knew the animal was well looked after and slaughtered quickly and painlessly. I recall my days traveling on foot through Clare and Galway Counties. The cattle appeared well cared for in humane conditions. There was old man I met on the road leading his Hereford Bull with a lead from the nose on his way to the Local. We walked and chatted and then he tied the bull at a hitching post while we went in for a pint. I imagine today that much beef in Ireland is imported, probably from Argentina and Brazil. Conditions there are unknown. British Beef was one of the great pleasures I enjoyed when living there. I liked the way it was aged- split carcass hanging in the lobby of the local butcher shop.

Most local butchers have meat from well kept animals. Even then, apparently pigs are still kept in creates and most chickens aren't fully free range... Hence Mrs lover (I like that name) is vegetarian.

Last night had roast beef and artichoke hearts. Trying to lose weight. That is a good idea I have never tried. I grill a large Portabello mushroom cap and layer a slab of beef on that. Catches the juices and adds a nice flavor. Sometimes just one small New Potato. The big Baker with all the timmings, a heap o'mashed, home fries, those days have passed for me....sadly.
