I’m beat Don’t over work yourself, relax the rest of the night 👍 Hopefully your done now!! Yes, you wouldn’t believe the day I had. Last night, I felt guilty not bringing the dog to the lake as the wife and family went on vacation. I pick her up, hang out with her and go to bed. I wake up this morning and she must’ve had an irritated stomach or something because she literally crapped all over the house. 4 different rooms on two different floors. After cleaning that. I got my rental truck to move and was doing my thing when I got a text from the guy who I hired to help me (both him and his cousin). He said Jason blew out his knee at work. I said “I’m sorry, looks like it’s you and me pal”. He says “well I’m the one taking him to the hospital, I can’t make it either”. I’m still not 100% done

They’ve both worked for me for 3 years doing odd jobs, fixing stuff, etc.

A long and difficult day on the irrigation system. Too many of our people do not do the work the work required to maintain their ditch. So, they blame me when their place floods.
Best antidote is a couple of Martinis followed by a 16 ounce NY Strip, 1.5 inches thick, seared rare in an iron pan. Sweet potatoes and steamed Brussels Sprouts. Copious amounts of a nice Spanish Tempranillo. Desert is slices of white cheddar and onions. More wine.
Tempranillo might be a little light for steak, but what I have on hand. A good sturdy Rhone is preferred.

I’m still not 100% done Sorry you started off with such a 💩💩💩💩 day!!! Then your help is a no show, I don’t buy the knee crap! One guy should have showed up!! A darn shame you couldn’t find any help last minute. Right now I count on me, only me. Took me over a month but I, by myself moved over 75% of my belongings out of my son’s room where I was living. The rest is a bit large for one person so when I know my son is moving in what month or year I will hire two guys and a truck that live local.....that’s their business for years with a great reputation.

Sounds like despite the rough day, your evening of good eats was enjoyable. I’m a left bank Bordeaux guy with a good steak but I don’t eat very much red meat. Cheddar and onions sounds like an interesting and tasty dessert. Is that all it is? A piece of cheddar and a slice of onion?

I finally walked over to my neighbors ( actually my new neighbors tenant) after 4 hours as asked him because I saw him earlier in the morning and I told him I’d pay him $20 an hour cash. He agreed to help but he was dropping stuff, chain smoking, and didn’t look like he was with it. I asked if he was ok and he said “yeah but next time I hope you ask me to help before I drink 6 tall boys” (24 ounce beers). I said “steve, it’s 1pm. He said that he’s been an alcoholic since he was 13 and he drinks all weekend from when he gets home from work Friday until Sunday night. Of course now I am freaking out as some drunk guy is helping me carry a California King bed down two flights of stairs. What a day

Actually, I have been having several great days with my wife. She took the week off of work and we have been hanging out, going to the movies and eating good.

Just relax and do nothing 👍👍👍 Thankfully after Friday morning, he won’t be my neighbor. Truthfully though, I feel bad for him. He actually said he didn’t want any money, he just wanted to help. We were both sweating and hurting by 5pm and I couldn’t let him not get what I offered. He was telling me he makes $20k / year on his job and will never advance because he’s a drunk. His dad died when he was 1 and his mom had 8 kids then she died. My heart went out to him. At one point he was trying to lift a filing cabinet by himself and I said “dude, you’re going to kill yourself”. He said “the sooner I die, the better”. He has 3 kids.

I’d get him a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Definitely not a liquor store. I feel bad for him, but I know many people that had a rough life and never turned to alcohol or drugs....thank God. It’s a life he chose, nothing you can say or do will change his lifestyle.

I had offered the $ before finding this out or I probably would’ve done something like that, like stock his pantry or buy him some food or something. Oh well. I’m outta here but I will think about this guy. He’s a nice fella with a really crappy life. Makes my day very tolerable.

^^^ Ouch, sadly I can say I've been there... there is always hope and always a way to turn your life around. He just has to want it bad enough and be committed to making the changes. It's not easy, but it's possible. I am proof.
Had some pork chops with spinach and green beans. Now some swedish black licorice hard candy that was sent to me. After 1 piece this is my 2nd favorite candy of all time

Grilled Peppered Pork loin (145 degrees) with Sauteed green and yellow squash and onions in bacon drippings/ butter with a bit of Malabar ground pepper, finished off with fresh parsley, Discounted Biscuits from the bakery. Tip: If you slow cook the bacon for your breakfast, the bacon tastes much better, and the fat renderings do not taste "porky" and offer a great taste to your sauteed side dish. Nothing against porky taste, but you want your vegetables to have a distinction from the meat.

Anyway, glad you’re doing what you’re doing because I certainly admire you as a fellow piper and as a truly good individual who’s doing his best everyday.

"Nope, I like drinking." Reminds me of myself so much. I could go on and on about this, but it's not the right thread. I'm also not judging the guy. Live and let live. Thank you for the kind words. Just doing what I do. trailboss your pork looks much better than mine.
