Scrambled eggs with cheese in them, potato pancakes and toast.
I got a job starting soon helping some fellows lay rock. Mostly I'll be mixing and carrying mud and carrying the rock to them. If the old man can still keep up with the pups, it'll be good, 'cuz staying home with Shweetie everyday and eating like this is gonna make me fat.
I had that job for one day in my teens. Well, 5 hours actually. I was worse than working on a shrimp boat. I wish you well and have Schweetie lay in a supply of liniment.

Bacon And Egg Sandwich with French pressed Community coffee. We got some Blue Ribbon bacon that's so thick that it's practically bacon steaks. Can't bite through it. Really messed up my sandwich.

I thought I remembered someone saying they did this. What was the official job title? I remember thinking it was a cool name for a hard job.

Think N-word and F-word. As if the work wasn't hard enough. I would rather work for Mexican bricklayers any day. Those Irish bastards couldn't work sober.

Aside from the hod, I worked a whole day on a shrimp boat, (because I couldn't get off), car wash, and a couple of other small temp jobs. I went back to my brother's inventory service. Long hours and hard work mentally, but aside from the standing and walking on concrete 16 hours a day it wasn't bad. I was managing crews and I got paid Ok. Of course, I was still part - time then and I could always say no thanks, I have enough money for this month. Then he put me on salary and I was working 86 hours a week during school and 106 hours a week during the summer. My morale went waaaay down.

I've worked hard all my life, so this ain't no new thing. The kids will expect the old cowboy to break down in about 3 days, and then they'll figure out that old cowboys are old for a reason. Wrestle and brand 300 steers in a day by hand out on the end of a rope with no chute. Haul and stack by hand 400 square bales at 60lbs per in a summer day. Dig post holes from daylight to dark. Pull calves at a temperature of -25. Put 10-12 hours in a saddle in a day in the mountains. Cut, split and stack 27 cord of firewood in a summer. Heck, if these 3 young men aren't on the ball, I'll be sitting under a tree smoking a pipe waiting for them to catch up to me.
But you ain't kiddin' I'll be slatherin' on the liniment and eatin' the advil like candy. I can still do it, but it aint easy no more.

I actually enjoyed the throwing the hay bales. I was in great shape and I was throwing them on the truck 2 at a time, faster than the boys could stack them. Cutting firewood was OK, as was digging post holes and building fences. Roofing was a zen thing for me and many days I would be lost for a while when I finished the job. Watch out for the Ibuprofen and Naproxen. They destroyed my kidneys.

Congrats on your diet, Don...wife lost 75#s with her diet of counting calories...she wasn't fat but high BP was giving her a problem...gotta hand it to her, and you. Dieting is no fun...fortunately for me the pain meds that are part of my life burn a lot of calories so I can eat pretty much anything and not gain weight...at 120 I can afford a few pounds.
Eating some cherry garcia ice cream as we speak (so to speak).

Ribeye's were cheaper than hamburger again so its Ribeye's the kind that have the bone cause you know. HP sauce this time on the side that English steak sauce is a acquired taste at best. Nice side salad with everything but the kitchen sink and yogurt blue cheese dressing. Gorgonzola is not blue cheese and is one of foodie peeves.

We grabbed some of those as well, I don't know why they are selling it so cheap, but I'll take it.

A few years ago, we would cut trees, block logs, and split 90 to 100 cords of firewood between May and the end of December, which we sold. By December, it was too dicey getting down those old logging roads trough the snow and ice with a truck and trailer. I cannot do that anymore.

Damp hay, heavy bales, but dust everywhere. I could barely move the bales, and soon my nose was running a stream and I was sneezing my head off. Musta been 15 or so. Next job was pumping gas, checking oil, and cleaning windows. Way better.

For real pain...shoveling salt (for winter roads) during the summer...sweating and salt dust in the air, burning your skin...not a fun job.
Getting ready for a cup of coffee...maybe a sandwich thrown in for energy...maybe ice cream instead...decisions, decision.

Eggs and bacon.
I'm losing weight on keto, but I have to wonder what my cholesterol is looking like.
Glad my post hole digging and bale tossing days are behind me. I did it because Mom wanted to play rancher. Haha No paycheck to look forward to. Kept me out of trouble during the summer months though. 😉

I eat plain yoghurt with rasberries for a healthy desert now.

All the hay is being put into those giant rolls. Last year you couldn't even find those for sale.

Don't expect your doctor to volunteer this information though.
