Tonight was extra crispy boneless oven fried pork chops. Green beans and boiled red potatoes on the side. Dang, that sounds good. Tomorrow, I am supposed to go with friends about 20 miles up the pike into Colorado to the town of San Luis, the oldest town in Colorado. Up yonder, there is a Thai Restaurant of some repute. I know from experience, not to order "Thai Hot", just "Hot". I do not get to go out often so it means a lot to me. Out this way, towns and villages are about 20 miles apart. That was a day's ride on horseback when they were settled.

Just finished up fried clams via the oven with a healthy splash of cocktail sauce for dipping. Diet Coke to wash it down.

No, I went to Kroger yesterday for the cream cheese. The nearest HEB is 7 miles and a 1.5 hour round trip because of the traffic. I bought the brown bread from Amazon. In Kroger yesterday they had the raisin version and the beans in the jar. I acquired one of each. I have to finish the can of bread that I have open before I can get into the raisin bread. I have 2000 fuel credits at Kroger now. That means that I can buy at least 70 gallons of gas at a dollar off per gallon. I don't drive that much so I will probably take a neighbor down to the station to use it up. Getting our prescriptions filled at the Kroger pharmacy really adds up.

Does Kroeger allow you to accumulate fuel points from month to month? Here, they allow a one month carry over. I should think 2,000 fuel points took a while to gather up.

No, no accumulation. That's just for this month. A lot of groceries, plus my wife was in the Plan D donut hole for the Medicare drug plan, so over a thousand dollars in drugs. Plus, I signed up for the VIP Gas Plan that gives double points starting in the middle of September. I probably won't need gas until after the first, so all of our gas will be under $1.50/gallon for October. Today the regular price at Kroger is $2.18. If the points were available my price would be $1.18. It costs $30/year for the upgrade, but think I will average $20/month in savings. If the wife retires and we start traveling more I will save $50+/month.

My truck gets 500 miles on a tank, so we can go a long way and still buy gas down the street. If Kroger happens to have a store in the destination, even better. Their groceries aren't exactly cheap unless you shop very carefully, so I am only getting back my own.

No place in else in town to eat, so we pressed on another 18 miles or so to the next town- Fort Garland. There at some diner we et Red and Green Chile smothered cheeseburgers, fries and very worthwhile cherry and apple pie. Not bad, but not Thai!!!!!

Crav'N Supreme Pizza, 2 meats, 2 peppers, onion, olives and cheese. A new brand in this market and promo priced at $2.00. It was okay and better yet, no dishes.

The true measure of pizza is when you can eat it cold. No such luck this morning a couple of dates, kiwi and cottage cheese backed by my famous sliced espresso in a cup.
