Excellent lentil soup with Louisiana made Andouille sausage. Cooked all evening and all night. Added more stock, sherry, Tabasco and a stick blender. Perfect for a snowy day.

Ja, in der iron pot, sauerkraut, drained mit gehackte apfel und bier. A pork chop on top and a sausage buried deep side. Into the oven it all goes.
Soon, I will be making potato dumplings from an old Bavarian Box. Ja, kartoffelknödle!

They would have gone well with der sauerkraut and if one were to make cabbage rolls they work well in that as well. This week Uncle Walt and I both have raisin bread that should be your first hint. Raisin bread with cream cheese, Raisin bread with butter, Raisin bread with cinnamon etc etc the possibilities are endless.

7 months on low carb diet, no sugar, I didn't cheat, tonight wife came back from Sams with all kinds of stuff for Christmas chow. Big pepperoni pizza, I sat down and ate 1 Slice, it was good, but I've been eating a lot less, so one slice was all I needed. If I had to choose Smoking or eating Smoking it would be.

Sauerkraut could be used in the filling along with the sausage and rice.

I am considering a change in jobs...The Itinerant food critic of the patch...seeing all the goodies posted, the reviewees could gain some serious street cred, and Justin could someday be nominated in a Kennedy center honors for promoting the Andrew Bourdain of the pipe smoking community.
Just a thought....

Making street tacos with thinly sliced old tough cow meat slowly cooked with fresh jalapenos and tomatillos. So yeah chili verde. No red sauce that would just be boring.

Went into the Town of Toad today for my class. Ate lunch at my favorite Mexican joint, the one with real, you know. Carne Asada with scallions, refritos, Spanish Rice, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, guacamole, salad greens, corn tortillas, steamed jalapeños. Jamaica to wash it down. I was in Heaven. Thanks be to God for such abundance!!!!
Post Script. Proof there is a God and he loves me. I went to the Green Meat Section of my supermarket and, lo, beheld a Rib Roast market down from $10.99 per pound to $4.75 per pound. Verily, I snatched it up and praised Him. I have never seen one there before and am truly grateful. This is no joke despite my attempts at humor. I feel most fortunate and blessed to have what I normally could not afford. It will have to be shared with a less fortunate neighbor.

With just the wife and I now I look at meat prices vs a average lunch for two at a mediocre chain. It helps to justify those better cuts of meat. I did see a nice rack of lamb but at 45 for a three lbs rack I passed. Like John we feel blessed that we always eat very well and believe that God blesses us when we find something that enhances our meals to another level at a affordable price.

A stock pot of chicken stock on the hot plate in the hope of warming the kitchen/dinning room. Mighty cold this morning at -6 degrees.
I will add this to my thick lentil andouille soup. Ought to be just the thing on a cold day. BTW, I am impressed with these Louisiana Andouille. They break up nicely when cooked in soup and blend in. Most other sausage remains intact, which is OK, too.

After a sandwich made from thin sliced turkey, provolone cheese with a dab of mayo on a Hawaiian bun...that has filled me enough to make do with a cafe con leche for me and the wife...that was dinner..not so with the small "baby" who got her usual fare...whatever she likes. Always happy to see a smile on the "baby's" face...she is our daily delight!!

now that power walks & WAYS finished, to be Schwan #662 toaster waffles, usual add-ons, nuked to plateful of mess. Add store brand k-cup cocoa & all to smoking room desk & continue with the papers. Probably too busy with wifie needs to actually sit down for a "real" lunch.
