Paddy, your Irish.....if you canโt bake a fabulous easy light soda bread....stay out of the kitchen...๐๐๐๐๐ I imagine he can. He probably is surprised a halfbaked American is also capable. You're not half baked. Your soda bread doesn't look half baked either.

I'm eating a salad in an attempt to lose that half stone I put on last week. I hate salad!

Back from changing over the irrigation system in the rain and high 40s (F). Ditch water overtopped my thigh boots and it is coooold! So, a hearty breakfast was indicated: Swiss style bockwurst (Weiswurst), two eggs over medium and soda bread all washed down with a bucket of hot black coffee.

Iโve made thousands of spoon biscuits in my lifetime. One was served with every breakfast meal when I lived in Malta and owned a restaurant & Pub. I really miss those days!!

Ted said: "owned a restaurant & Pub. I really miss those days!!" I, too, managed restaurants for Marriott, Dennys, and a couple others. Had a restaurant on the beach (literally) on Key Biscayne. Managed the Sonesta Hotel and Villas, hospitality business is wonderful fun...long hours and lots of interesting people. Was caught in the crossfire in the lobby at the Sonesta between rival drug gangs...that was interesting. Drank with AeroSmith and a host of others. Lot of fun, but looong hours...sometimes days at a time when short staffed. Cooked in those restaurants, too. Sorry, for the fall back to nostalgia.

My wife just brought me a piece of marionberry pie. Wow, that's good stuff. Was that named after the former Mayor of Washington, D.C.? The man who responded to snow emergencies in the District by saying "God put the snow on the streets. God can take it away" (February 1983). Just asking.....

I thought the same thing when my wife told me it was "marionberry". Actually, it's named after Marion Co., OR where it was developed.
