Today I had a Fray Bentos steak and ale pie shipped all the way from jolly ol' England. I'm an admitted Anglophile, so I waste a lot of money importing everything from Monster Munch to Branston Pickle. Anyway, give these pies a shot. They come in a huge flat tin which goes straight into the oven once you've removed the top. Imagine a rich beefy pot pie, albeit with a huge, light, flaky pastry crust instead of the dense shortbread style crust we're used to in America. Nice, cheap dinner. I served it up with some peas and taters. Canned meat pies: Just one more thing those hobbits do better than Americans. Years ago, I used to find English made tinned meat pies and they were good. Thanks for the reminder. I will have to put in an order, along with the Branston and some HP Sauce. Don't forget the Heinz Beans, different from what we get here.

Got hooked on Pop Tarts via my local Dollar store. @ 6 for a buck, I am trying not to overdo it, but must have one with my morning coffee, then onto my first bowl of the day.

Dinner was Pork Sirloin Steak, Organic Baked Potato*, sliced Tomato and Cranberry Sauce on the side. * Potatoes were on sale @$2.00 a bag. It registered at normal price of $6.00. When I said something she exercised good customer relations and gave me the Potatoes for Free and handed me the erroneous amount of $6.00 in cash. Made my day.

I had a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup for dinner. Simple, but good. Looking forward to a good steak tomorrow night.

Tonight I made a ragu of diced flank steak and cippolini onion. Served this with rice made in the pressure cooker and roasted broccoli. ExChef I used to get flank steak for the price of burger, about two bucks a pound. I'd deliver a side of beef to a mom and pop butcher shop. They always ground up the flank, so I gave them burger price plus premium and bought it back. A little burgundy for the steak. I little burgundy for me.

Tri Tip, cabbage, turnips, carrots, leeks, drowned in Guinness Stout in the slow cooker.
As much as I love a corned brisket, too much sodium for me, sadly.

Nothing, unfortunately. Everythng in my gut has been going the wrong direction today. Stomach bug. Lull in the misery right now. Bad week of pain and instability from a labrum tear in my shoulder, lost filling with a bad toothache and today, the bug. Sheesh! I need some maintainance.

Thanks guys. It hits me in waves. Can't be much food left in my system. I feel ok after throwing up, for about an hour, then it starts all over. Reading the Patch is keeping me entertained in between.

I was going to build one with my dad, but he died last year (1 year to the day on Wednesday). So with my limited building expertise (i.e. none) I bought this last year... And this is what the pizza looks like (after 3 minutes)... The oven heats the pizza from below rather than one side, so there's no turning required. And it doubles up as a chiminea too.

Cheers - honestly the best pizza I've ever had, but I worked out that you need two pizza stones with a slight gap between the two otherwise the base will burn. Once I figured that out it produced amazing pizzas every time - even gluten free pizzas were passable.

That's a great looking pizza! I'm having a nutritious snack of brown sugar & cinnamon Pop-tarts ... toasted and lightly buttered on the back. Green tea with lemon and ginger to drink while prepping some Revor Plug to smoke in a minute.
