Well, it's been 20 months since I have enjoyed one of my pipes. Had some lunch earlier, sat out on the patio, and enjoyed a starter bowl of McB Original Choice in a Swiss Alex Kapeller "Black Majesty" freehand. It's sooooooo nice to be able to relax and enjoy my pipes again. Have a great weekend folks, and most of all...enjoy your pipes. Glad to see you back. Hope to see a bunch of your smokes again.

The Erik 1855 is a decent smoke. Clean and sweet to the end. Grassy with maybe a bit of graham cracker and cinnamon in there. Grateful for the chance to try something new. I may pick up a couple tins for aging. I can imagine these bright Virginia mellowing into a warm, soft, creamy, bready, vanilla. This one makes it on base. By the end of the bowl, I found the perfect cadence and it was safe to say it had stolen second. Final verdict- it's a Double.
Thanks Again PeteGuy!
Just ate my weight in homemade chicken soup and followed that with a bowl of University Flake from the generous stash I received as part of my Secret Santa package from CobGuy. What a nice smoke. Thick, rich, and mellow. Very oily mouth feel for me. Almost like some cigars I have smoked. I taste a lot of flavours at the dark end of the spectrum- Walnut;baking cocoa;molasses etc. I think a few tins of this stuff is a must on my next order. If it had just a bit more tang or brightness, this would be a Home Run. It is pretty good though and something I see myself smoking often so, I'll call it a solid Triple.
Thanks Again, CobGuy!

Highlight of the day. Distinguished Gentleman in my POTY Diplomat. Sunkist Orange on the side What are you doing smoking a baccy called Distinguished Gentleman?! You need to read my posts on this. This tobacco is to die for. Smooth, creamy, some depth. No spice hits or "out there" notes. Revenge is a dish best served cold, is all I can say

Now smoking Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake from 1999 in the goussard prince with a reverse saddle stem. Man this is awesome, I picked this up a month ago from the local b&m on a fcps night. Now I wish I'd picked up way way more. This is definitely a lot better than any fresh stuff I've had. The flavor is way more pronounced and smoothed out on top of the bowl anyway. I may change my tune nearer the end.

I'll look for your posts David. I was actually about to ask you about it. I had a tin in my cart on SmokingPipes before but it didn't make the final cut when I make my semi-responsible cart edit prior to checkout. haha
Is it in last month's what are you smoking thread or in the tobacco threads?

Enjoying my first rope style tobacco. Happy Brown Bogie. I have to say, I watched some vids on youtube before and guys acted like this stuff was like smoking something that it frankly looks like. haha I think it is marvelous. So strong though. Seriously, this is some Jedi- level tobacco and I'm admittedly still a Padawan. I nearly lost my sinuses when I tried a big old retro-hale. Really gotta baby this stuff and be patient, but I didnt dry it well enough for subtle puffing. Admittedly a little dizzy at the half-way point. haha All I had for dinner was soup. This is a post-meatloaf kinda smoke!
I actually read in the baccy description that sailors used to bite off a chunk of this stuff and simply chew it. "Back when the ships were wood and the men were iron" as Grampa is fond of saying. haha
Delicious but deadly. This will be a rare smoke for me.
Shout out to my Christmas buddy CobGuy for another great tobacco.

I had a tin in my cart on SmokingPipes before but it didn't make the final cut when I make my semi-responsible cart edit prior to checkout. haha Is it in last month's what are you smoking thread or in the tobacco threads? First time I smoked DistGent I was in the midst of crappy sinuses. Then I spilled the tin and only had two pipe fulls left, though I had a 7 ounce tin. Last week I gave it a try, thinking that if I liked it, only SP has it and I should get some. It shot to the top of my list now, which includes (leaving out the Holiday Types) Sutliff VIP Match, which is down to about 5 or 6 in order of likes Five Brothers is in the top 3 Butternut Burley is in the top 3 Sutliff J4 Burley about 4 DistGent top 3 1936 Briggs top 5 In rotation are Whitehall Black Tie - Really in the top category, though I don't smoke it quite as much. Brigadier Black Alamo - Vanilla, caramel Vermont Meat Candy Hickory Match Captain Black Royal and Dark 7 Seas Royal Mulled Wine Velvet Comoy's Cask 2 Heine's, EGR, Chatham Manor, Carter Hall, Sutliff Ready Rub, Sweet Cask, VIP Match, Smoker's Pride Black Cav (really nice BCav) Now the Poofies - Pumpkin Spice, Christmas Spice, McCl Pastry, Low Country Hazelnut, Corn Cob Pipe & Button Nose McC has a Holiday Spirit and Best of Show Aro that smell great, but a little vinegar new. Let them sit for a few years and wow All of the above I have either a full tub of or a pound or two... or three. The tinned ones that do not come in anything over 2-3 ounces I have several, but my main concern are the ones I can just puff my way to eternity with. Sorry you asked?
