The worst tobacco I ever had was some Consolidated Cigar Co. (CCC) "Ready Rubbed" that I bought from Little Brown. This stuff was very fine in cut; like a cube cut but little chunks that flowed into the bowl like rice. It gives an almost instantaneous tongue bite upon lighting and is almost impossible to smoke. I wouldn't even try to cut this into a blend because it would ruin the blend. ...I recall sampling that ages ago... same reaction as you...

My least favorite tobacco experience was with Samuel Gawith Firedance Flake. I read the tin description, read some reviews and it sounded pretty tasty. I was kind of shocked at the flavor. I smoked it for a few minutes not really sure what I was tasting. I tried to think of something it tasted like and the only thing I could come up with, was it tasted like I puked in my mouth. Seriously that was the only thing I could come up with. Needless to say I gave the tin away to someone who likes the stuff. ...very strange taste... one bowl, then gave it away on another forum...

Gawith, Hogarth and Co. Black Irish X. The savory, meaty flavor was nice, and I thought I would really enjoy this rope. Then the burning rubber swooped in with a vengeance.

I had a little bit of tobacco’s in 3 jars, they were of similar genre’s... va, bur, Perique, and it amounted to a bowls worth of tobacco.
I realized that I am not a blender.... not gonna do that again, I will save them for micro smokes.

It's Prince Albert for me. I got a strong chemical taste when I first opened a tub of it. However, after putting it on the shelf for a year or more, I tried it again and the chem taste was gone. I had to re-hydrate it, but it was a decent OTC. That said, I've had that tub for years now (and re-hydrated it twice) and it's still half full. It's a once in a while smoke for me, but I do enjoy it on occasion.

The worst tobacco I ever smoked, was the Swedish Horror called 'Borkum Riff' which I had the misfortune of buying on the ferry to Sweden in the mid-sixties.

The worst stuff i ever smoked was a few months ago. I thought I would revisit some tobacco my Granddad and Uncle Frank smoked. I went and bought a pouch of Half n Half and a pouch of Velvet. Well to make a long story short those pouches of plastic tasting yuck went into the circular file.

no doubt from here...the Nonplus Ultra tops my list by huge margain. Followed by almost all the OTC stuff from back in the '60s. Guess if am a tobacco "snob".....so be it. Smoke whatcha like, like whatcha smoke.

The ‘worst tobacco’ I ever smoked was De Nobili cigars. I used to smoke cigars daily and considered myself a Connoisseur’. However, i wasn’t a cigar snob. I smoked many candy store cigars and many were fine, especially in in a pinch. However I found the De Nobili’s to be harsh to the tenth power.

Or as Shemp said about one of his cigars, "Oh, Lasting, Kadora." which was spelled La Stinkadora

I find C&D burley blends (e.g., Haunted Bookshop) harsh and unpleasant, so I feel ya. Myself, C&D Captain Bob's Blend. Wow. As a child I never liked the taste of Nehi Grape soda. Just too artificial tasting, so Captain Bob's blend was just horrid to smoke for me. Radar O"Reilly would be greatly disappointed (you are probably too young for that joke). I haven't tried Captain Bob's Blend, but grape soda in a pipe doesn't appeal to me, so I'm with you there.

People are strange creatures. I absolutely LOVE Pegasus. I have 4 pounds cellared. My mainstay weekend morning coffee smoke. Cerberus is another I enjoy quite a bit.
I am not sure I have a tobacco I passionately dislike as many of you do. That may be because I have avoided M79, Velvet and Borkum Riff.
Captain Black might be my least favorite thus far in my short 5 year piping journey. Tastes like nothing but hot air to me. It wasn’t an awful taste, it was NO taste. Shortcut to Mushrooms might be 2d least favorite, but so many people love the stuff I cannot understand this.
