Very cool pipe and I love the look. Not thrilled about the price tag for a cob though.

...great looking cob, but for $50 I can get 2 decent estates to refurbish...

Not exactly my style (as if I have one) but I give props to MM for taking the initiative to innovate.

It would be nice if they would look back to the cobs of yesteryear and re-introduce them. People have been asking them to do so with the corn dog pipe... crickets.

I got one of the unstained ones back in 2015, and have ordered the unfinished 2018 to go with it.

There's also a video on the production of the 2018 pipe.

It would be nice if they would look back to the cobs of yesteryear and re-introduce them. People have been asking them to do so with the corn dog pipe... crickets. When I asked MM about a re-issue of the corndog at the Chicago Pipe Show last year, I was told the following. 1. They are aware there is a lot of interest in bringing it back and “are looking into it”. 2. The tooling required is no longer in useable condition, so new tooling is required for both the bowl and the diamond shank. 3. Quality of corn needed is a very specific type and/or size of cob. 4. The experience of the workers, everyone who worked on them in the past have retired or no longer there. The most logical reason to me is #2. #’s 3 and 4 just sounded like excuses to me. The cost of making new tools is their biggest concern. So it boils down to ROI, which I would think that they would see an acceptable ROI due to the large demand to bring it back. I also think they would have no problems selling them as fast as they could make them.

It would be a cold day in Hell before I spent $50.00 on a new cob. I have no problem with those that do, just not for me.

Yeah, the limited number of Corndogs draws money from a few knowledgeable collectors, but that doesn't mean that there's enough market to make bringing it back a profitable venture. If it requires them to sell them for $50, a couple of hundred would saturate the market. They can't expect a get eBay prices for them.

Good points by Danno and Ronv, It is an expensive proposition to order new tooling equipment, let alone all the other variables on whether or not it is a good idea. Most people will balk on spending more than what they are used to for a cob.
People have been pestering Colt to reintroduce the legendary Python line of revolvers, but the machinery was put in mothballs long ago and eventually scrapped by the bean counters. The rest of the reasons why they couldn’t bring it back closely mirrors what Danno says mm told him, point by point.

These are some handsome pipes! After watching the YouTube video, I placed my order. I missed out in 2015, not this time. And regarding the price, I think the pipes are priced fairly. In my opinion, it's $50 well spent.

I ordered one of each style. Considering all the American man-hours involved, I think they are worth it.

Watching the video certainly informs you more about what is involved. A good rule of thumb is, could I reasonably make the item for the cost involved considering my time and labor?
At least for me, the answer is no.

The Reverse Calabash pipes have shipped! I wonder if they will sell out quickly at Missouri Meerschaum? I suspect so.

I suppose someone with more dollars than brains will buy a corn cob for five times its worth. It's a nice idea for a reverse calabash, and to make them a numbered so called collector's item and want $50 for them. I don't think so. I smoke seconds and inexpensive pipes from England for that kind of money.
Thanks for enlightening us to these novel pipes.

I received my Missouri Meerschaum Reverse Calabash today. Very nice pipe. how does it smoke? I cannot say, yet. The Reverse Calabash concept on the cob seems solid and the pipe is built very well - feels good in the hand. By the way, the cob came with instructions of use, including a "do not clench" warning.

It seems the dark and two-toned Reverse Calabash pipes are now sold out. Only the light color cobs remain.

Aristocob is stocking them too...not sure which ones, but I'd assume they'll have all available on the MM site.

I returned mine; didn't like the stem design. I was going to fit them with forever stems but the stems that come with it are glued into a wooden plug tenon.
