Going to switch to Crockett for a moment. I saw some compelling evidence he survived. Later I heard that really was a rumor going on for a long time. Saw his signature on a land deed after the battle. The people who showed it were too lazy to have his signature checked. Looked good to me. I hate when someone raises a subject like that and discounts their own evidence out of hand

Ron is a reasonable guy but does not like people talking shite about the Alamo, or even joking about it. It's clearly a very touchy subject that he takes very seriously. Having said that, I think when you start a thread with "Please remove if this is considered politics or religion" you kind of already know you shouldn't post it. But let's make some apologies, walk away, and move on.

Me, either. As I wrote to Ron earlier, the meaning and emotional resonance the Alamo has for some Texans is totally lost on people from the rest of the country. Which of course doesn't justify threats....

Number One, with my health I can't be taken seriously. Number Two, and I hesitate to say this, but I seldom drink anymore. Maybe I have a glass of whiskey when someone drops by. When Butch and dad, who are both Kentucky Colonels stop by, who can resist some KSBW? I used to drink two quarts a day and I was pretty much an asshole. I yelled at my kids once when drunk. They forgave me, even told me I was right. I never forgave myself. I said that only because I know I have lost friends over things I have said. So, even if something is inexcusable, it can be forgiven. |
