Compression wrapping the rib cage following a fracture has been standard practice of a long time. I cannot imagine why your MD has not done that except it makes bathing difficult. You should get some relief from a wrap as it minimizes rib movement. I hope you feel better soon!

Our baby girl, who is dainty and white...always smiling like it is her delight...she takes up a lot of our time, but I can't think of anything that I would rather do...than take care of our pookie bear.

I'd take a guess at cost. While the NHS is a wonderful institution, cut backs post 2008 mean that a lot of treatments that could be offered won't be. My shooting partner broke his thumb falling off a ladder, and the initial treatment didn't set the bone properly. When he went back about it he was told that because of his age(mid 40s at the time) they wouldn't reset it,as he wasn't a hight priority. Likewise, when I had my op recently,I was home within hours where a few years ago I'd have been kept overnight

Ugh, I was on the road all last week, and I did not catch up on my sleep over the weekend. I am dragging much tail, and I still have a deposition at 5:00.

At mine there were 3 defense attorneys representing 3 different doctors. One actually fell asleep snoring. My attorney said to the stenographer β please get his snoring down as well β. It was quite funny!!!

Been a hectic couple of days. Our full time guy quit without notice, so I'm filling in for him, the machine isn't automatically starting, so we're having to start everything manually, and I'm prepping for an interview tomorrow.
Whew. It's good to be able to have a relaxing smoke.

I promise that the system would insist on wrapping my ribs at the very least.

I've decided to go to A&E. Sitting in the waiting room, but I've been told that I may not get an xray and I'll not get strapped as they don't do that anymore. jackdiamond, all the best for your interview. I hope you knock it out of the park.

I hope you knock it out of the park. After consulting with the Mayo Clinic wesbite, it seems a complication of fractured ribs is pneumonia. The pain prevents deep breathing which allows fluid build up in the lungs. Experience has shown that compression bandages inhibit the deep breathing necessary to prevent that. So, bandaging is out of favor.

So, bandaging is out of favor. That would make sense. I've been warned about pneumonia on a few occasions now. Turns out I have at least 1 broken rib. They didn't xray my side where I'm in the most pain, but there's a broken rib at the front. They've given me 30/500 codeine / paracetamol (acetaminophen). That's taking the edge off the pain.
