Yup, it’s dark here in NC once again and the rain will be coming down in buckets shortly. All in NC drive carefully.........and those other States that have had more than their share of rain in the past week!!! I think our rain in Northern Cal has ceased for the season. We are all preparing for fire season now. I'm praying we have no calamities like the Camp Fire of last year or the fires in the wine country the year before. Those were disastrous and put many people out of their homes.

Finally received my medical supply order from UPS. The driver went to our local post office to ask the post mistress if she knew where I lived. She does not live in this village so, no, she did not know. Eventually, the driver figured it out and the package was delivered. There must be an easier way of delivering.

I keep hearing that Amazon is going into pharmaceuticals. I bet they can find you with one of those new drones.

Don't these guys use GPS? I will say that in some of those areas GPS does not work. I am going up to Taos tomorrow to look at a damaged RV and some knocked down fencing. When ever I am heading up in that area I use my Garmin and phone map software. If one does not work, then sometimes the other will get me there. Though I have had some north of Taos that I had to call to get specific directions because neither the Garmin or phone software were accurate.

Several areas of New Mexico are purposely blanked :Area 51, Sandia Labs, White Sands, and Los Alamos to name a few. I imagine that some of the blocking bleeds over into adjacent areas. Also, you can use that map, nothing much has changed since they left Texas. 😁😈🤠

So had a busy night. Plumbing issue at 2am at the house. Time I got that fixed I was too awake to go back to bed. Now I Have a 3 hour drive to Taos for a couple of assignments. Will need to get some caffeine before I hit the road. Hoping to find a quite spot in Taos I can stop for a pipe, a break and more caffeine. 😀

Been cooler in the mornings here , 50s instead of 70s, Been in the garden at daylight last few days. Coffee, radio, garden, full pipe. Cant get much better. Listening to the chickens wake up and start their clucking and moving about. They get louder when they hear me out there, disagreeing about how long its taking me to feed them. Found one of my rabbits had babies over night. Spent a little while watching her mother the little ones. Then alarm on phone went off, had to get ready to go sit at a desk all day. Here now daydreaming about being there then. I am blessed as always. Blessed but pouting.

It is hard to figure why there are no reliable road maps. The roads have been here for a very long time. Complicating the situation, no one can agree what to call some roads. Mine for example has one name with the State and another with County. Then the locals have three more names for it.

Love New Mexico the scenery and rock hunting is a wonderful pass time. I agree on both points. I wish people would stop throwing their garbage out the car windows down there though. It looks like a road side scene out of 1970 in a lot of spots because of that.

So got back from Taos today and was feeling the need for some me time. So grabbed my entire months rotation and retreated to the back porch. Now to start off, lately I have been trying some new Virginia/perique blends to expand into my cellar. Tried Davidoff Flake Medallion and Taps VIP, both of them had the perique as more of a background hint more than anything else. So not what I was looking for. So today I decided to go for the gusto. Tried to have a bowl of PS Perique 311. I am pretty sure I will never ever do that again. I like Perique but that was not something I care to repeat. Now the maudlin part. As I am cleaning my rotation I am coming across pipes that I still smoke monthly but they are just not calling to me like they used to. So putting them in a separate pile to deep clean so I can move them on to others that will appreciate them more. Just finding the process of picking out pipes that I have had for years to move on to be somewhat of mental process that is taking me down memory lane. And in all honesty that is something that I am not in the mood for. So excuse me for a second while I smack myself on the head. So now loading a bowl of 15 year old Oso Negro and having a hot cup of Earl Grey tea. And back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I bought an ounce of perique last year and smoked a bowl so that I would be able to identify it in blends. Now I know! 🤤🤤🤠

Spent a lot of time in and around the area when I was in school. Durango was my home base for six years. Have often thought of moving to Trinidad or Raton in retirement. Would love to be near the Whittington Center.

Had a fun start to the day yesterday. I was reading the threads and fired up a bowl of Russ's Pancake when Kim yelled there was water in the basement. I checked it out and had around two inches. I checked the sump pump and it was running but wasn't pumping. Pulled the pump out and found a sock stuck in it. Put it back in but it still wouldn't pump. Grabbed the new back up pump and put it in and got the basement pumped out and dealt with clean up when I got home. The good news is no tobacco was harmed in this flood.

Ken, that’s scary, thank God your wife caught the problem when she did. Another reason why you never store anything of great value directly on the floor of a basement. You only lost time, no damage to your pipes and tobacco’s 👌👍👍👍. Hope the day gets better for you!!!
