The neighbor thinks he has to kill all the snakes that go in his yard. I was out with the dog and noticed this one headed that way. It has now been relocated behind my house... I havent found any red ones in quite a few years. It was about 3 1/2 feet long. Beautiful in my opinion Red Rat Snake

They're pretty docile once you catch em. At first they shake their tail like a rattle snake and strike at you. But I'd do the same if a dinosaur was trying to pick me up. Once I had it and he realized I wasn't a threat, it coiled around my hand and just sat there.
I've had snakes as pets in the past and they're interesting animals. With the colors on this one, it would have been beautiful in a tank if done properly. Considering it's the first red one I've found in so many years, it needed to be free to breed some more.

Watched the neighbors portable canopy get torn to shreds during a storm earlier. I warned him that wind gets moving when it comes across the lake when he sat it up.

When it comes to canopies they are a endless source of entertainment for me on the bulkhead. Some last longer than others but they all end up the same way that's why I wont buy one. PS I want one.

Snakes with round pupils are usually non-venomous, still can give you a good bite if hungry. With oblong pupils donβt pick up unless you have experience. Also a triangular head on a snake ie: rattle snake and copperhead are venomous.
Even a hungry garter snake can bite, I was bit twice....so beware.

I've been bit by a few of the non-poisonous ones. Even my old ball python got me once. Scares the hell out of you even when you know it's not going to kill you.
Handling venomous snakes is not for the weary. You only get to screw up once, usually.

A healthy caution of both snakes and spiders is hard-wired into our brains from a time when it meant survival. Knowledge can help prevent this from becoming a fear if you feel confident in identifying harmful from harmless. I love them all and have a huge Crab Spider on my ceiling right now. Cheapest and most effective bug killer available.

Sometimes I move spiders from one area of the house to another. They're welcome around here.

I fear spiders more than a broken femur. One time there was a HUGE garden spider under the passenger side visor, which my wife found while we were driving. I had to pull over, and get out of the car, while she disposed of it in the grass. I just can't do spiders. Ever.
I'm ok with snakes.

My wife, being from Louisiana, sees every crawling thing as either a pet or food.
I was with a group of high school buddies in the summer of my junior year and we were going to Mexico just to fool around. We spent the night at one of the guy's sister's home on the Air Force base where her husband was an officer. When I woke up the next morning there seemed to be a bit of confusion. Kay said to stay in the sleeping bag because one of Neil's cobras had escaped from it's cage. I complied. π¨π¨π¨π©π©π©π²π²π€

I am 6" 2" tall 310lbs an have to chime into this, my spider dropped down from the drivers visor right in my face while backing out of the drive way. I bailed out while still moving that sucker can have my truck. No way No How.

Helps fight the pests eating my animal feed. My dog does not have the same opinion and often if he sees them before I do they don't have a chance.

We have had a problem with mice in the shed and in the house lately. If the snake decides to stay where I put him, he'll be happy and so will we. I wouldn't mind having a few more living around, just no big snakes because we have a family of rabbits living under the porch.
