77 degrees here in Fargo and extremely humid today. July is the hottest month of the year in these parts. Call me odd but I much prefer Fall and Winter. Time to split some wood for a neighbor that can use some help. My sister and her husband are based out of Fargo. I was there for about a week one January. I had to go back to Alaska to warm up.

Pleasant surprise for a change...got the exhaust fixed and it turned out to be pretty simple and easy. After some injudicious 4x4 work, the truck was roaring. Badly. It's a '95 F350 4-door, dually, 7.3 Powerstroke w/turbo, open 4" exhaust and Thoroughbred Deisel 6-position chip tuner. So it's not stealthy at the best of times. Turns out the exhaust pipe had separated at the clamp right under the cab where the downpipe turns and heads toward the rear. Reconnected it and then went over all of the clamps with a large air impact.
Now for replacing that fender...

Finished up the day earlier and am taking tomorrow off. I worked real late last Thursday and Friday and worked all weekend so I said screw it and am taking a day for myself. Kim and I are picking our new camper up tomorrow evening and are pretty excited and will be taking it out next weekend. One big change might be coming as I have a job interview Thursday for a maintenance position in a local processing plant. They have a lot of refrigeration that doesn't work and no one who knows how to fix it. The benefits package is great and I would get 3 1/2 weeks vacation the day I start. Just haggling over money at this point but they said they have a nice package to discuss on Thursday.

Hope it works out!

This guy is lucky that I ran across him and not one of the other humans on my road. I scooted him off into the bushes and he went on his way. Good for you. He was bothering no one. Similar event with me this morning. Cleared a debris jamb in an irrigation culvert by hand and pulled out an arm load of branches, leaves and sticks and one 20 inch juvenile Prairie Rattlesnake. He was numbed from the cold water and was limp as dead. Reptiles here are known to survive cold here if they can be gradually warmed, so I set him under a bush in partial sun. When I returned later, he had moved on. I just hope he tells his friends and relatives.

The kicker is my son works there and he's the one pushing for this. I warned him to be careful what he wished for.

Ken- hope you get the job
I had to zip past those dam^:€d snake pictures. The one creature that needs to be extinct on the planet.
Hung out at the Pipe shop all afternoon, smoked lots of Latakia.

Good luck with the interview Ken. Will you still be able to work with some of your other clients? Assuming you would want to.

Got to observe a highly amusing mating ritual this morning. Was parked out by the local high school inspecting a RV. The girls soccer team and the boys track team were practicing. Of course the boys track team had their shirts off. I could see from where I was at that when they came around the back of the gym they were doing a good jog. But when they came around the corner where the girls soccer team was at thier strides got longer and thier chest stuck out more. Once they rounded the next corner and were out of sight they would then slow down again. It was highly amusing to watch. 😀

I STILL stick out my chest and walk like I have muscle if a pretty lady is around, even though I'm mostly flab. I'm very happily married, but somehow it's a reptile brain reaction. "There MUST be some alpha male in here, somewhere. Let's see if I can find it."

When we got back from vacation we found a small leak area in the ceiling...I have a tin roof that is coated...years ago I sealed it with drywall fiberglass strips where the seams were and coated the seams with roof sealant that is flexible...well...seems as though after 10 years that one of the seams cracked and apparently that is where the water got through. So...this old man got up on his roof in 100° broiling sun on a tin roof and repaired the split in the seam...yeah...I'm crazy! But the job is done...now I'll wait until this evening to go back and put a second coat on it to hopefully let it last another 10 years.
I think it is time for a smoke!

Either way, I'm glad you got it done.

Thanks, Josh...I know you would have taken care of it...and I appreciate your offering. I put the seal on this roof about 10 years ago...so I'm not surprised that it has some cracking going on....later this evening when it isn't so hot, I'll go up and put a second coat on the strip that I did and look for other areas that may be suspect.

Be careful Walt, don't need you getting hurt on a roof. I pretty much stay off pitched roofs now. If it isn't flat I stay off it.

Walt stay off the roof. Note to self if going to Georgia buy extra 410 shells for the snake charmer.
