Starting the day with coffee and a bowl of Five Brothers in a cob. #6 ( scrooge ) turned me onto this closing in on a year ago. Dry as sagebrush. #6 sent me a generous package back then and on the Five Brothers (I have told this story, so exit if you wish) pouch was a note that this is his favorite. So every pouch of that since gets emptied into the one with his writing on it. #6 stands for the Sixth Brother and he calls me #7. I love this guy as much as my real brothers and I love the snot out of them. Anyway, this is sort of the tobacco that goes well in the morning with coffee. It is Plain Jane as #6 says, but it packs a wallop and doesn't twist your taste buds all up. Other burleys would do the same, but this non-blend gives you straight burley. An alternate day might start out with English. That does not get in the way of future smokes. I may stick with burley today, going onto @10furlongs Mark's blends that he sent. Will finish up with an English or for Stanhill maybe a Danish Cavendish. The Seven Brothers finished quickly and I may have to load another right away. Mark has taken me under his wing. He knows so much more about tobacco than I do. I know my posts are all over the place. Partly, like the Ghost Incident, I like sharing memories. It's like I am sitting with you all, my family, and though I am wordy, it is an appreciation of all of you. This post is not Hush Hush. Share it with the world. This forum, here in the Chronicle and beyond, is the best. David Now it's onto Conspiracy stuff. Search for Tesla Files. New Ancient Aliens, and The Dead Files. Have a wonderful and blessed day... and Ronv69 stay out of the heat.

We had another day of good weather today. It's been almost 2 weeks like this. I'm pooped though so I think I'll crash on the sofa for a while rather than venture outside for a pipe. I know I should be making the most of the good weather, but I can't be arsed.
I hope you're all having a great weekend.

Family reunion today, indoors. Bad timing right at the end of school. Only about 20 of us old folks showed up. We joke that we have these so that we can get to see each other between funerals.

We used to have one based on my great grandfather's descendants. It went on for decades, but wound up as you say. Still it kept us mentally close for those years.

i love the dead files, but never get to see it any more *sigh* I have a couple issues with the show, but overall it's pretty good. You learn unique history for individual houses. I wish they were around to investigate the lonely girl on the answer machine. Ghost of the Attic Murderer and the Saloon that disappeared to be told later

Only about 6 people where coming any more -- the younger generations weren't interested.

I wonder do the younger generation keep in touch through social media etc. and so a physical reunion isn't as essential to them?

I think it is more that we didn't grow up knowing each other and didn't form attachments. All the first cousins grew up together, but the next generation went to college, moved away, etc. and the trend just continued.

Yeah, the way things are going, young people don't see the need for family. They don't even know their cousins. Another factor is that families spread out more and just don't see each other. My great grandfather has been the source of at least four different family groups across the country that each has its own reunion, but none of us know the others. The Montana group seems to be the most active right now.

Pretty much how it has played out in our family also. When I grew up on my father's side most of the family lived in one state (Kansas) so we saw more of each other on a regular basis, the ones that lived out of state always made it to the reunions when we had them. Now that the families are more dispersed and all the uncles and aunts are gone, I tried to get one together back in 2011 at lake Powell, and all that came was my cousins from Texas and Brother from Northern California. Two years ahead of time, everyone started making excuses why they couldn't come and some I know that it wasn't because of lack of financial means....But some cousins that had a different last name, (My aunt's descendants) decided for the first time to have a family reunion that same year in Kansas the same month. I do have one cousin that has great property in Kansas that put an outstanding family reunion together last year. She had extra power hookups installed, and had several fifth wheel trailers brought in, very inexpensive for those that chose the option... A hunting club was out of season, she knew the owner got it basically for free, and a local hotel was nearby. The meals were all pre-planned and the whole cost was very nominal. A core group of cousins did a lot of work and planning to make it all come together, but there were a few that still found a way to gripe about accommodations, insinuated that the leftovers wouldn't fairly be dispersed to them, and plenty of other nonsensical gossip...and the complaining was universally all among a few of my generation. It was a great reunion, well executed but for the planners, I wouldn't blame them if they decided to heck with it.

I think y'all made some good points on why reunions fade. trailboss that sounds like something that can't be beat. Woke up about thirty minutes ago, grabbed my chilled coffee, took copious meds, and let Bully the Lionhearted into the bed. He's playing with some re-processed bone that's as hard as a crock. Going for some Five Brothers in an unfinished sav slight bent billiard. I note the lack of Basketball Fans in this forum, or maybe they're just silent. I will be watching the finals later. Blessed Sunday to all

I've managed to get a date night tonight because my wife and I have to give blood for a genetic study for my daughter who has a rare neurological condition.
We have to be at the hospital early in the morning so we're staying at my mum's while she's in Brazil. My mother in law is looking after the kids so we're out for dinner and drinks.
Feels so good. Didn't bring my pipe but it's good to get out.

Cheers @cosmicbobo and Lady Margaret. We're having a great night. It's good to get out and forget about life for a few hours. That said, it's 23:15 and we've an early morning appointment at the hospital. Still, you only live once.

zambini - taking a breather from my criminal studies to post this. I compared Iwan Reis's Dr. Bradley's Mixture to International Blend. I have since had several bowls of DrB. You really can't go wrong with either one. Bradley's, IMO, is just a tad spicier. The pipe makes a little difference, not a lot. I think (as I mentioned before) that what you have been smoking earlier in the day makes a difference on how you feel about your later bowls. I have gone back to my starting the day with Five Brothers, and actually smoked multiple bowls of it today. The other tobaccos I have had, this being one of them, have been pretty boffo. Boffo, btw... Chronicle Code word for Boola Boola. We really do need to keep this between us, Hush Hush, Definitely Down Low, on the QT, and Strictly Confidential

Getting ready to light up some Butternut Burley in the Hilson Prince Darin. 3/4 Litre of coffee, muddy and sweet, like my women. zambini no worries with the Mafia. I was out in Daly City, just south of SF, drinking in an old Boxer's resto. Place was called Val's. So I am buying the gentleman next to me some drinks. I was already blitzed and wanted the room at my level. So, I wind up drinking with some guy from the Chicago Outfit. He informed me the normal Mob meeting place was Scoma's in SF. Got invited to a party there the next day, but was so hungover I just flew out of town... in a plane. Now you all know this has to be kept Hush Hush, Definitely Down Low, on the QT, and Strictly Confidential

Think I'm going to take a few days break from the pipe. I've noticed that I've got a very slight sore throat after smoking the last few times, so I'm giving my throat a break. The good weather has seen me smoke more frequently than I normally would so I'm sure my body doesn't know what's happening to it.

I was going to say the same thing until Windows decided to do a 2 1/2 hour update. I've taken off pipe smoking for four days and it helped. Mostly now, I cut back to one or two bowls

Getting ready to light up some Butternut Burley Crud. I just made and order from P&C, and I just KNEW I forgot something. I was gonna try Scotty's Butternut Burley. 4 Noggins has a butternut burley too, and I've never had that either. Which one were/are you smoking?
