I really need to get on the roof and sweep off the leaves and pine needles, along with a couple of limbs. Thing is that it needs to be when my wife isn't home and my son's awake, and I can't remember the last time this happened.

Ah....another roof top skulker...us old folks may look like we can't do something...and it may be true, but we are sure as hell gonna try...even against common sense...which has nothing to do with it, if a job needs doing.

Ya know, just because I fell off the roof and broke my leg that one time..... I was sweeping the roof as my wife returned from the store with our 3 months old son. The sun was lighting his blond curls and blue eyes as he smiled up at me and I forgot to look where I was stepping. It's extremely unlikely that those circumstances will ever happen again.

It went from mid 90s on Sunday up here in NH, to 69 today. I have jeans on. I might take a ride down to Laconia to go to Happy Jack's pipe shop. Looks like they may have some decent tins.

What do you ride? Nothing anymore. Had kids and decided I'd put off actual riding until they were grown. I still have my old Rebel, and it's an antique at this point. I had planned to bob it, but never got around to it.

Goldwings are better. 😁🤠 Edit Riding to Laconia I just assumed. We are going to take the trike up there one of these days. We love New Hampshire.

That^^^^^^is the best excuse I have ever heard of for falling off a roof...and the way you tell it...makes perfect sense to me.

I used to just ride the back farm roads where I live in Maryland, and the Rebel is good for that. I never did an actual ride, since I don't have a partner to go with.

Waiting for the movie to start. Took my kids to see something called "Is it ok to pick up girls in a dungeon". An anime. This should be interesting. 😀

I signed up for a discount international air fare site just out curiosity. In the past couple of weeks I have received notices of cheap fares to Shenzen, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, along with similar trips. I believe that I could find discounts to all of these destinations without any help. I just don't want to see the world in body armor.

Just Google anime sometime when the kids aren't around.

So in the ER with my mom. She started having blood pressure issues at her retirement community. They called me at 1am, got to the hospital by 130pm. Figure I have a good eight hours in the ER before they decide what they want to do. Think it is going to be a long day. 🤗

67 degrees in the swamp this morning turned off the AC and opened the windows. Made breakfast for momma but I cheated with Jimmy Dean microwave sandwiches. Got some Irish cream in my coffee so it is shaping up to be a great day. So long from the lifestyles of the poor and unknown. Everyone have a blessed day.

Having a great few days up north. We've been swimming in the sea, at the amusements, spa, crab fishing... I even had a bowl of Carter Hall as I sat watching the golfers on the first tee.
Holidays are sweet.

so, i have had an order of tobacco from The Old Country Squire for almost three weeks and i finally got to sit out and try a bowl of Northwest Trek last night. very good stuff.
So, right before july 4th my car threw a belt or something and i parked it in the driveway, my garage was closed for the holiday. on that monday i tried calling them but they were backed up because people had been waiting for them to come back from vacation. hubby was having knee surgery on thursday and i didn't feel like dealing with it. we've been using my mom's car (which is actually safest for her and everyone else on the road) My brother went with us to the VA on the 11th for hubby's surgery so he could us back. I was in knots the whole time, neither of us has ever had surgery before. Things went okay, but they give you this long list of don'ts and send you home. I don't think outpatient surgery is that great of an idea. On that Sunday i had to text my sister-in-law who was a nurse to ask advice how to get the gauze off his knee, it was stuck to it with blood and we weren't supposed to get it wet. it was challenging for him to get washed off, we don't have a shower. once the dressing was removed he managed to get in the tub without getting his knee wet. he's getting around pretty good now. we go this afternoon for them to remove the stitches.
Friday started a week an a half of another annual training for him. his last day in the military is july 31st and then we will have much more time for ourselves. we will be making plans so he can retire from his civilian job in a couple years, or whenever he gets his 100% military disability through the VA. he's getting close. we are waiting for his updated percentage on his back, and have filed for frostbite damage that happened when he was in the Marines (the doctor who re-evaluated his back told him he needed to file for that, he didn't think it was significant enough, but evidently she did) and he has been told he should apply for his shoulder. he hurt it last year in march at annual training and has had problems ever since, he hasn't been able to do any woodworking or yard work around the house. he needs to be able to at least do some woodworking, because if he's home all day he needs something to get him out of my hair for a few hours or he may end up buried in the back yard, lol.

Prayers for her also....started the day with coffee and the unfinished bowl of Voodoo Queen in an old Grabow billiard...got the porch vacuumed...(didn't know the exact spelling of that...good for auto-correct) having a half an English muffin with cream cheese and a glass of prune juice...the joys of old age and a slow constitution....got a bowl of Blackberry brandy lines up in a stained bully.

Good to see you posting, Lady M....sorry about hubby's situation...surgery is never a fun option, but hopefully he will be better and is able to do things to stay out of your hair for a while...also to keep him sane and not bored to death.

Prayers sent, addamsruspipe. Lady Margaret, you've had a run of things going slightly off centre. I hope that, once hubby retires from military, that things start falling into place for you both, and you get to enjoy retirement.

Having had both scraped and cleaned of bone spurs, I can tell you that that particular surgery is a PITA..got to keep the arm immobilized with a pillow sling (not what they call it, but you get the idea)...got to keep it immobilized while at the same time stretching the muscles so they won't cramp up on ya...PITA is what it is, but shoulder should be great after it is done.

@lady Margaret Maggie, only the Army could take a man who is a week away from retirement and 2 weeks out of knee surgery and send him to mandatory annual training. If this is the decision making process I really fear the next war. Praying that you will be strengthened to get through the next few months.
