If you get the chance read the late 80s The Shadow comic book. It's pretty trippy but issue 7 is one of my all-time favorites. I must have hit the wrong button an hour ago as my post is not here. There were two Shadow Series in the late 80s. First #7 is Harold Goes to Washington. Second is from the Shadow Strikes Series #7 is To Cloud Men's Minds

Decided to celebrate the start of winter on the West Coast of the Dark Continent and to ease my troubled soul, by changing my current rotation a bit. Cracked a 2009 tin of Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake (to add a bit of Latweed to winter), a tin of Rattray's Old Gowrie from April 2007 and a pouch of Amphora Original Blend (for obvious reasons).

Gerard Jones and Eduardo Barreto's The Shadow Strikes is the better series (I also really liked their El Diablo run) but that Andy Helfer series was so much more ambitious and of the times...just don't read from around No. 15 on as it goes off the rails.

I'm old enough to remember The Shadow on the radio, neighbors would sit on our porch, we were the only radio on the block, and we would listen to The Shadow, Inter Sanctum, Gunsmoke, Fibber Magee & Molly. That was a more civil society then.

I have the issue loaded in my reader. Will read it before day's end. So many series fall victim trying to take a great series to "The Next Level". The artwork goes nuts. The story line immediately shifts to Cluster-F status. Similar to what has happened to movies. I was following the latest volume of Batgirl. After 28 or so really good issues I (in one giant leap) couldn't follow the shift in the story and the new artwork. The Shadow Strikes series is the superior series of all the Comic Shadows. You can find two Shadow Movies prior to the Serial online. The Shadow Strikes and International Crime. After the Serial there were three Shadow movies with Kane Richmond. Two can be found fairly easily. I have a quality transfer from a VHS of the Serial. I have about 250 Serials. Many Silent and before 1932. From 1933 on I have every Serial made. Took twenty years to compile those

Your house sounds like a lot of fun. It can be. Though I don't get out of the house or down to the basement, where a few thousand comics are, I get around this floor okay. I don't use my VR Helmets that much as they don't fit over my tin foil beanie, but I have read comics with them and that is pretty cool, too. I need to get an estate sale company in here to sell the things I can't get to.

Will be watching the Basketball Finals tonight with Bully the Lionhearted. I wish every Chronicler here and all over the world a wonderful weekend. No matter how much I say so, it does not lessen or cheapen the blessing I feel knowing you all.
However, we must have a leaker somewhere as more people are finding this place. Its success is totally dependent on everyone keeping this Hush Hush, Definitely Down Low, on the QT, and Strictly Confidential

Just tried out the Five Brothers that came in yesterday. Burns HOT! I smoked it too fast. Not only that, but I got my first "baccy hiccups"! Flavor was great, and I enjoyed it, but it's definitely a strong burley. Decent nic hit too. I'll smoke it more slowly next time.
Next up: OJK

I was forced to figure out photo hosting, Droid apps and a new way to post photos and it was frustrating at first. Image hosting sites are banned by my work's networking and so I had to figure out how to do it on the phone.

Playing the ponies at Belmont this afternoon, getting ready for the big race. #1 Justify should have everything his way on the front end today. If Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith can nurse the field through a slow first half mile in 50 seconds plus with Justify in front it'll be tough for the others to run him down. #4 Hofburg has Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott in his corner and Mott has won the Belmont. Interestingly, this guy has four Belmont winners in his 5x5 pedigree and Mott has really been uncharacteristically chirping on him all week. Solid play at morning line odds of 9-2. The longshot I like is #10 Blended Citizen. 15-1 morning line odds would be a gift on the only horse in the field that has already won a race at Belmont Park and his workouts leading up to the race were flawless.
I can't make any money betting on Justify at even money or less today so I'm giving the #4 Hofburg and the #10 Blended Citizen my action for the win this afternoon. Good racing y'all.
