Seeing as how his name is not Patrick, I think he has just been tolerant since we've known him. Used outside of Ireland, Paddy can be disrespectful and stereotyping.
When Andre replies to posts, he doesn't call himself that nor does he address us as Yanks.

I hadn’t thought about this and truly would never do anything to offend any man or woman knowingly. Especially someone like Andre. I for one apologize sincerely if I’ve offended him or anyone else here for that matter. |

But listen (or read)... It takes a lot to offend me. Calling me Paddy doesn't even give me the slightest offence at all. It's all taken in good humour and I know nobody is even trying to cause offence.

Yay! Lady M. is back, and good to see brother Scrooge is hanging in there in spite of the pain he is enduring.
Another hot and humid day here in central north Florida. Watched a documentary called Blue Tarps about those folks who went through hurricane Michael about 1 year ago...still no Fed. help except to give 80% of the assistance to the top 3 tree growers (fabulously wealthy). Why is anyone surprised at the corruption!

Paddy is traditionally a slur against Irish catholics. I guess it would depend on where you are and who is saying it. My ancestors were involved in the whole Catholic persecution thing with Cromwell and later, so it isn't something that I would ever use. In the Scouts, one of the families was Italian, and the other leaders would jokingly refer to their dad as a Dago. As he fought with them in Italy, he wasn't offended. But, don't let a stranger call him that.
