The Chinese ducks are usually "smoked" as you observed. If you have any Czech, Hungarian or German restaurants in your area, you might ask them for a roast duck. All three have a tradition of roast duck and do an excellent job. I have cooked many ducks and geese at home and favor the rotisserie over regular oven roasting. I had an outdoor gas grill with a rotisserie. I believe there are indoor electric versions which would work for duck, chicken, game hens, even small roasts. We have every single kind of restaurant in the area except those you mentioned. We have the electric Showtime Ron Popiel "Set it and Forget It" rotisserie that we haven't used in at least 15 years. We were planning on using it for the duck. We have Chinese, Hawaiian, Somalian, Greek, Cajun, Vietnamese, Tai, Halal, Jewish Deli, Soul Food, fast food, Italian, pizza, donuts, kolaches, South American, Churrasco, and pretty much everything else. That is funny. When I lived in Los Angeles, Studio City, we had a Hungarian restaurant around the corner on the main street. Up the boulevard and down another street was the headquarters of the German American Bund, or so it seemed. Huge place with its own parking lot in an immense old house. Room after room filled with platters of eisbein mit sauerkraut, flagons of pilsner, women in dirndls, Bavarian brass ban music playing and the occasional roast duck.

The NWS continue their predictions of "Snow-megladon" with 90 per cent probability. Television stations in Albuquerque imploring that we remain hunkered down in our bunkers awaiting relief. Meanwhile, there is an additional whole INCH of accumulation and the sun is shining. Have we all lost our minds?

The Albuquerque weatherman is a literally clown who spends most of his time at festivals. I remember the nice weather forecast as we were coated in sleet in White Rock.

Heading out of the house to Sam's and Kroger to restock. I did go out yesterday to Kroger to use up my gas points for the month. $1.78/gal. I bought the overpriced fuel system cleaner that they sell at the pump as this is the first time I've gassed up the new truck. It was previously a rental unit in Socal, so I figured it was overdue.

Sorry you are still suffering those pains, Walt. Hope you are able to recover sufficiently to get enjoyment out of life.

Thanks, John...some days are better than others...my most joy is my small girl doggie...she is sweet and gentle,,,she has epilepsy and the shelter was going to put her down...said most folks wouldn't pay for the meds it takes to keep her calm. She is expensive to keep, but she is worth every dime it takes...her love is exceptional and genuine...she is the glue that keeps us (wife and me) happy.

Over a two year period, I nursed three of mine to their deaths. I could not put them down. They all went on their beds in their sleep. I never thought I would have another dog. Then one day, some people showed up with a shy Aussie female, blue merle with blue eyes. She 1 1/2 years old. We have been together now almost two years and I love her dearly.

71F and 91% humidity. Go outside and the condensation starts. Wind blowing hard. Snow. Cold and wet. Not the dry powder type. Bones and joints are swollen and grinding, Wild Turkey 101 poured liberally on all moving parts. Internal application, of course.

Visited my ham radio friend who gave me a receiver and Reel to Reel deck. Talked to him for an hour listening to him describe his wife's last 2 months of battle to cancer. Humans are simply biological organisms, no amount of medicine or thoughts and prayers win this battle- biology has its way.
Went out tonight and met another nice lady ham operator whose boyfriend and her ordered a cable I need to hook my antenna tuner with. So she met me and my wife at an overlook at the big dam on Lake Norman which is about 1/2 way for both of us.
Finished off the night at the Japanese restaurant with my wife.

Day off today. Naomi is feeling much better than she did during the week so we're going to the cinema this afternoon to watch the Adams family.
Hopefully just chill out by the fire tonight. I love lazy days. It's cold but the sun is shining. Might go for a walk on the beach too, but that's it for me.
Haven't had a pipe in about 2 months. I'm pretty sure I'm not addicted.

Maybe we should have seen frozen II.

I think another couple of days of antibiotics and she'll be 100%.

Missed karate and am late on getting my errands run so let’s see how much I can cram into the day.

I knew I was tired but sleeping in for me is usually getting up around 7 instead of 5. I just couldn’t move this morning.

Not much choice here. At 10 degrees (F), the chance of my truck starting is low. Even with a heating pad on the engine, the fuel tank is likely to be gelled diesel. I should have put anti-gel additive in at the last fill up. In a day or so, the temperature will warm.

Had lunch with a good friend of 40+ years...talked about his work (writing grants for Indian Nations to curb homelessness, addiction and abuse)...his work is very rewarding and gives him a glow of goodness about him and his life...doing good for those who really need help. A good man and someone who saved my life once...friends like that you can't find or buy....they just are there. Truly a good man and friend of homeless animals, too. Enjoyed my time with him.
