Youngest daughter has been taken to hospital. She wasn't well yesterday but got worse during the night. Phoned out of hours who told us to take her to hospital. I hope it's just a drop of antibiotics that she needs. I'm at home not knowing what's going on. I hate that part. Gonna try and get some sleep. Spare a thought for her, though, please. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Prayers for her and all of you Andre.

Thanks guys. She's getting some antibiotics and will be sent home, thankfully. Hopefully within a day or two we'll be back to normal.

I check into this thread every so often. Seems a lot has been going on. To those dealing with struggles, I hope everything works out and things today become a distant memory.

Happy Thanksgiving time to be extra nice and count your blessings. The end of the harvest this day starts off the season of giving and not the taking.

Got up early, cleaned up, nice nippy day, drank coffee, let Buddy out, Son was on call yesterday, supposed to get off at 3:30, but they brought in a guy who during a domestic disturbance shot it out with the cops, they saved him on the operating table. Started going over with wife what she had to do, her quip You think you’re a Marine DI, my Quip No I got too much smarts for that.🤪. Kidding. Getting everything lined up. Browning pork roast, took turkey roll out, deboned turkey with NUNUS sausage, I helped her tie it off withmy canvas sewing needle from my Grandfather. Went thru crab meat for shells, kids don’t know how much this casserole costs. My first cousin who is dieing of throat cancer wants to meet my kids, glad he can get out, won’t be able too very much longer. All in all we don’t realize how much we mean to those around us, be safe, enjoy your family they slip away so fast.

Talked quite a bit on local ham radio repeaters too.
Made a new "things to do", "things to buy", "things to sell", "long term goals" list. I've always loved making lists and crossing things off, making new lists, year after year.
Going to my daughters " mini-mansion" as we call it, for lunch. My wife is making my mother's recipe for oyster casserole which is my favorite dish for Thanksgiving. Son in law is deep frying a turkey, I only like the dark meat.
I'm using the walker now, I hate more than anything being seen using it but with my still sore shoulder after fall #32, I don't want to have another fall for awhile. I'm going to have a MRI on Saturday so that they can tell what I injured.

The most exciting thing I accomplished today was shaving off the beard so I can look dignified for tomorrow. I even plan to wear shoes and a shirt with buttons. I watched a YouTube video on how buttons work so I think I can still do it. I also ironed my trousers. Trousers are more expensive than slacks or pants as they contain wool. Also listing to Taco Puttin On The Ritz for inspiration. Also dug the baubles out of the floor safe. So I will be set for Thanks Giving dinner and might even get lucky and get to play with the kids mother. Must be quite the occasion in the Lime household! 👍👌

Had several friends in for dinner today.Kind of a pot luck affair. Usual Thanksgiving fare..Turkey and stuff. If I have any kind of special talent it's for making friends..Maybe it's because folks know that I cherish them..I believe that if I want to have friends I have to be one..It doesn't work with everyone, but when it does it's great.

It was OK, but I don't think that we'll do it again. We wanted a roast duck but none of the local stores had any. It was kind of like a cross between duck and ham. Not as good as either.

The Chinese ducks are usually "smoked" as you observed. If you have any Czech, Hungarian or German restaurants in your area, you might ask them for a roast duck. All three have a tradition of roast duck and do an excellent job. I have cooked many ducks and geese at home and favor the rotisserie over regular oven roasting. I had an outdoor gas grill with a rotisserie. I believe there are indoor electric versions which would work for duck, chicken, game hens, even small roasts.

We have every single kind of restaurant in the area except those you mentioned. We have the electric Showtime Ron Popiel "Set it and Forget It" rotisserie that we haven't used in at least 15 years. We were planning on using it for the duck. We have Chinese, Hawaiian, Somalian, Greek, Cajun, Vietnamese, Tai, Halal, Jewish Deli, Soul Food, fast food, Italian, pizza, donuts, kolaches, South American, Churrasco, and pretty much everything else.
