Hello everybody. I just joined this forum some minutes ago after half an hour of lurking in the wings. What a great place. I'm a 67 year old Danish male, who debuted as a pipe-smoker at the ripe old age of 12; my father taught me the ropes and told me to "always smoke good tobaccos", so I was tobacco-raised on 'Old English', 'Three Nuns', 'Edgeworth' and 'Prince Albert' and I've been fond of Burley ever since. In Spetember 2016 I took up pipe smoking again after a short hiatus and I started to buy second-hand pipes and tried to learn how to restore the ones I find on flea-markets and such. Last March I started to collect Stanwells, first and foremost the ones from the 50s and 60s, but any Danish-made Stanwell will do, as long as I like the shape and finish. Indeed, it goes for all pipes. Why delude myself. I do hope that I'll be able to contribute in return for all the great stuff I'm going to learn.

Greetings and Welcome from Washington State. Denmark is a pretty good 'pond' to go fishing for Stannie Estates.

Thanks again, everybody. Mike, "Denmark is a pretty good 'pond' to go fishing for Stannie Estates. " You're quite right and they're reasonably priced as well. The most I ever paid for a second-hand Stanwell, was $85 for an early 50s Sixten Ivarsson design. I have a good pipe friend who restores pipes as a hobby and I always get first shot at his Stanwells before he puts them up for general sale.
