Dead fish? What the hell are you smoking? You gotta change your tobacco is what. My whole house smells like latakia and I love it.

Dead fish? What the hell are you smoking? I have to agree. Buy quality tobacco’s... pulling leaf from beaver dams is a guarantee in disappointment.

But the beaver said it was great. It may be the tobacco... Like I've mentioned I don't have a wealth of knowledge to work with. It's a Borkum Riff mixture with cherry Cavendish.

I smoke in my home office - I have an exhaust fan in the window, an air purifier, weather stripping around the door and a towel against the bottom of the door - no issues as long as human error does not enter the equation

Well it's not the house that smells just the office and the smell appears after the door has been shut for at least 24hrs after a smoke. Needless to say I don't actually smoke everyday and more rarely multiple times a day.

Just curious... how does the home-office smell when left unoccupied for a few days with the door closed after it has been aired out? Is there old carpeting and drapery? Old air conditioner coil and filter? Items in a closet that are musty, moldy, stinky... ? In my experience, pipe tobacco smoke doesn't linger for long, and when it does remain perceptible it doesn't sour to the extent that you describe.

I use Lampe Berger catalytic fragrance lamps which burn alcohol with added fragrances from essential oils to remove odors. Originated in the late 1800s to sanitize air in hospitals. Works great, you can find them on eBay, or other places. Google it to find more info. There are other brands that probably work as well.

At least you were classy enough to wait until your 2nd post to write such a um, colorful description. Like others, I'm curious about what kind of blends you smoke, but also what kind of women you know.

Try a window fan and a smokers candle. Works for my basement mancave.

I'm starting to think that this is one of those threads sparks warned us about. The sales pitch for genuine Rolex watches or a timeshare in Sandusky might not be far off.

I smoke in the library and every now and then, I open the window at one end and the door at the other end. Works like a charm. No aroma of dead fish or unwashed, female pudenda. (Isn't the aroma a bit of the same, really..?).

They only way to fight this is fresh air or maybe one of those purifiers/ionizers could help. Also, vacuuming with some carpet fresh works wonders.

I apologize for my tardiness. Life interrupts. I appreciate the many suggestions and will likely try a few of them. I do apologize if my description of the odor offended anyone. My wife actually made the original comparison so it was not strictly male conceived.
Now to attempt to answer a question or two i saw. I currently have Borkum Riff only. And only because I was out completely, I got it from a gas station tobacco shop. The other shop was closed at the time.
I can have the door shut while smoking but must open it and leave it open within an hour or the smell begins. Once the smell starts it can take about 24hrs to dissipate but I will have no issues with the door shut until I smoke again.

use a good air purifier with a charcoal filter and spray febreze into it every day and air the room out when you can.

Smells like tastes can be very subjective and how we associate and describe them as well.I myself enjoy Borkum Riff products, but have had to learn a proper cadence to avoid tongue bite. Sutliff's Alexander Bridge leaves a very unpleasant room note after smoking,at least to me it is unpleasant.Ask at the smoke shop for some Carter Hall or Prince Albert,or swing into a Wallgreens and pick up some Captain Black. In other words try a different tobacco before you start buying a bunch of air purifiers. Might get a can of Febreeze air freshener to spray the room after a smoke, but those are only a couple bucks.
