Yes. I try not to look at him too much. He scares me sometimes.

Not quite, but am starting to see evidence of his approach....
Tip: if you shave only a couple of times a week, you won't see him so much!

Grow a beard and you won't see him at all.

I'm with mgtarheel I avoid mirrors at all cost and I have this beard as an added firewall- though I have been noticing less blond and more white hairs in said firewall..

For me, it's more when I see a picture someone has taken of me. I don't purposely do so, but am always struck with the fact of looking my age.

I'm okay looking at mirrors; it's when I look at photographs of me that I am shocked. Age creeps up on you and then pounces. But in my mind I am still 40 something.

I don't worry over the guy in the mirror...unless he changes or appears with friends, especially friends, they all try to talk at once.

I shave in the shower! And the 12 year old in my head is completely perplexed by the shell he's wearing. And why all of a sudden it hurts.

Every single day starts with a confoundingly depressing identity crisis... baggy eyes, scowling jowls, sagging double chin, all-white unshaven stubble... funeral might be tomorrow 😖... time for one last smoke😜...

Mirrors are nasty. Don't trust them.

I often get a fright when I spot this old unkempt codger in the reflection of a shop window....and then realising IT's ME

The mirror's no problem; I just remove my glasses as I'm blind as a bat without them and no, I don't shave.

Here is a very appropriate song by John Gorka that sums up the whole thing better than I could.
Lyrics for People My Age by John Gorka People my age Have started looking gross I cannot say all
And I shouldn't say most I've seen 'em in the grocery I've seen 'em up close (continued) And People my age Have started looking gross
People my age Are showing some wear There's holes where their teeth was And their heads have gone bare Their brains are shrinking Faces sinking into fat And as for the mirror We won't be looking into that
People my age Have started looking gross Maybe not in Colorado Or up the Silicon Coast Back in Pennsylvania I'd eat scrapple on toast Those were my first steps On the road to looking gross
People my age Are looking overripe Some are getting operations To tighten up what ain't tight What gravity's ruined They try to fix with a knife What's pleasant in the darkness Is plain scary in the light
Gross

I’m beginning to not recognize the man some days.

The gray hair bothers me the most. And the beard is gray too, so that won't help. People tell me that I don't look my age, which is the best one could hope for.

Truly odd... and a tragic case of self-denial and warped perception: my mirror image does not resemble my self-identifying mental image at all. Photographs of me feature offensively nightmarish imposters and should be censored and burned... what's a ghastly ghost to do?!?!?! 😱🤯😬💀🙈🙉🙊

The gray hair bothers me the most. And the beard is gray too, so that won't help. People tell me that I don't look my age, which is the best one could hope for. I started going gray in my 20s, like my dad. People thought I was older than I was for a long time, or just couldn't tell.... but now that I am starting to look older, it depends on the gender of who I'm talking to. Men seem to think I'm older than I am, and I get comments like "us retired guys" or "people our age" when the guy is really old enough to be my dad. It's worse if I'm unshaven. But women seem to think I'm younger, and I often get comments like "Wow! I love your hair! Is it real?" As if someone would go through all the effort of trying to have prematurely gray hair . Then again, this is Santa Fe, Land of the Cougars.

I grow a beard and use a barber's electric clipper to cut it close when it gets to about six inches. My meds and weight now make me not even recognizable to my avatar. I just post those because I remember me "when"

I wish that my hair would turn gray, as I think it looks great, but so far, no such luck. My hairdresser says that she's has only seen a couple or three and then she lets rip. My beard has turned white, so why the @£$€ can't the rest of the hair follow suit..?
